She's not even off GH yet..
Neither was Jason Thompson when the rumours came out that he was leaving GH to go to Y&R.

I do think this is a negotiating tactic though.

If they cut some script/breakdown people, I wonder if it's a "last in, first out" situation or if larger salaries play a bigger role. If it's "last in, first out" for scriptwriters, Mark Higley and Danielle Paige would likely be let go. As far as the breakdown people, I have no idea.
I think their newest hire among breakdown writers is Lisa Seidman. I think she was the only one hired by the new regime. It seems they have one more breakdown writer than the previous regime had. Or was someone let go?

I agree! If it's true Days wants her now and has in the past, her first choice is obviously GH if she's in talks with them.

She'd be crazy to leave GH, imo, especially for a soap that hasn't even been officially renewed.

ITA. Not to mention the fact that ABC actresses have not fared well on DAYS to put it midly. I don't think Becky would leave GH unless she was fired which she clearly isn't since she's in negotiations with them.

And just to be clear, I have nothing against Becky; I think she's a sweetheart.

Yep. DC practically gave GH all the leverage with their article choices today.

I think DAYS needs to start cutting their cast TBH not adding to it. Maybe these actors are working for way too little if DAYS can be throwing out casting offers so much with their limited budget.

Days needs to quit hiring newbies and giving contracts to people like MW. They need to give favorites like Lucas,Justin, Adrienne and Paul stories.

I doubt either ABC or NBC want to cancel their last remaining soap TBH. I think at this point the only reason either soap is being kept on the air is because the two networks want to out-run each other for the purpose of record keeping. One eventually will drop out of the race. It might be DAYS first because they have the lower ratings. It might be GH first because ABC can gamble with trying replacements and unlike DAYS I don't believe GH is practicing cost efficiency.

I feel like everyone is abandoning ship on GH!! Jonathan Jackson, Steve Burton, Vanessa Marcil, Julie Marie Berman, Anthony Geary, Kimberly McCullough, Jason Thompson... And now possibly Becky Herbst!! We barely see the veterans.. Only Sonny and the Corinthos Clan, Ava/Julian/Alexis/Olivia. And characters fans care little about like Kiki, Franco, Nina... I wouldn't be surprised if we heard Kelly Monaco & Billy Miller were on their way out too. Too many fan favorites are leaving on that show.

Funny cause I always pictured GH ending before DAYS. And B&B /Y&R being the two soaps left standing.

GH has cut its budget and shooting schedule over the past few years as well, although it's not as dramatic as DAYS. I think they shoot five shows in four days, or something like that (?).

I think in the end, NBC is going to keep lowballing the license fee, even when DAYS increases its ratings year over year. At some point the show just won't be able to do it.

Okay, I was just looking at another site, and someone said that RH has been on Days before playing a character named Dana Winthrop. I checked RH's IMDb, and while it's listed, there is no date. The Dana Winthrop character is also not listed as part of SoapCentral's archives.

Does anyone remember her on Days or the character she played, Dana Winthrop?

It seems they're having two-week hiatus(es) pretty often lately.

Yes, she appeared on the 6/21/96 episode as Dana Winthrop, a girl with AIDS. "Days" did a yearly AIDS-for-a-day storyline for a few years in the 90's.

The episode pre-dates Dustin's and SoapCentral's archives, but here's what Beth has on her archived site: http://web.archive.org/web/20080118041953/http://www.bethsdayspage.com/days/archive/1996/6.17.96.html

Meanwhile, Laura counsels a young woman at the Horton Center who has AIDS. Jennifer, Alice, and Jack are touched by the woman's story of courage. [Token speech about AIDS by Laura. Dana, the young woman, sees Jennifer and Abby and then Jack, and comments on what a loving family they are. Jennifer doesn't correct her, and listens as Dana reminds them of how precious life is.]

Dana returned again in 1997 (on her one year anniversary, 6/20/97), but was played by a new actress, Lanna Nakaneshny.

Dustin's details that episode: http://web.archive.org/web/20041210142720/http://www.geocities.com/rdustinc/daysums/June97/week3.html

At the hospial Dana reappears (the girl with aids last year at the Horton Center). Jen talks with her and learns that Gram Horton got a job for her at the hospital. (Jen's hair looks nice today). Dana tells Gran the new drugs seem to be working and how wonderful AIDS research is (is tomorrow AID's day or something? it must be as Y & R talks about AIDS tomorrow too) cuz they talk about AIDS research needing money, safe sex, etc.

Could DAYS survive as a subscription show?

Would $5.00 per month be too high?

Wasn't there something about how Days was told to stop writing until Sony and NBC reach an agreement?

Is that unusual? I don't remember ever hearing that one before.

Is it likely that we're going to lose Days in a few months or unlikely?

Anyone hearing anything, positive or negative?

No. AMC & OLTL couldn't survive on Hulu and Hulu offered a lot of other programming for it's per month fee.

Uh oh!! I'm getting scared!! Is this reliable? Is DAYS getting a renewal??
I really don't think there is a cause for concern. Serial Scoop will not be reporting on this :)
Thank you, Michael!

You could actually watch them on Hulu for free.

But yeah, I highly doubt Days would/could survive online.
