Ava booking that death flight would have been more dramatic if she'd been gone more than 24 minutes.

I like J&M, but not a huge fan. They were one of the few redeeming qualities of today's show. I also like Jennifer, but I am liking her more lately.

I thought the music for the fire was pretty OTT.

Jennifer, you should have hidden your drugs BEFORE they got to the door.
Lol she has a long sweater with big pockets so she can hide her drugs without hiding it in some place else.

Watched the Hope/Rafe/Ciara/Chase/Andre stuff, only, so far.

Well, at least the story line was "funny" and action packed today.

- The music choice at the beginning, lol
- The kids standing there not leaving during a fire while Hope is screaming for them to get out (WTF?)
- Hope's swiftness to go to murder?  (Rafe: No, Hope, not again! I know that's your "I'm going to murder someone" face). Dude, though, I actually rather Hope be crazed like this than hapless, so go ahead with your killer tendencies Ms. Williams.
- I kind of liked the idea of Hope & Jennifer living together at Alice's - one cousin hiding her murder addiction, one cousin hiding her pill addiction
- Andre mocking the Rafe & Hope scene
- Hope finding the camera and telling Andre something (I wanna know what she told him)
- Hope rushing into that mansion ready for murder ... again

Though, seriously, is Hope going to be like a mobster now? Or is this just demonstrating she needs psychiatric help?

Chase & Ciara. I really like the touch of her believing he may have set the fire. I feel like Chase is going to do something very, very, very bad to Ciara though.

Will be back with thoughts on the rest of the episode after I watch the rest of DAYS after watching Grey's and Scandal.

Ava is just insanely bad today. Who left these scenes in?

Kayla begging Steve to not keep secrets...that's why I hate this.

I really like Marlena's little pep talk about why she loves John and what a good person he is. And how fate would have brought them together. Soulmates!

So Hope did want to call Shawn but Rafe talked her out of it. :drunk:
If anyone can figure out Rafe's logic behind why calling Shawn would be a bad idea, I'd love do you to share it with me.
Cause Shawn would ... uhh...

yeah, I got nothin. Rafe is 100% in the wrong here. Hope, too.
Exactly my point. Shawn could do an investigation into the fire and see if it was indeed caused by an electrical spark or if something else caused the fire. He probably wouldn't be able to prove that it was Andre, but proving it was done purposefully would be a start.
Does Rafe think that no one will find out that Hope had a fire in her house?! Or is the Salem Fire Department too stupid to see that it wasn't a spark in the electrical outlet that caused the fire?!

Part of Ava flashback is the rape. How many times will we have to watch it. It was nauseating the first time.
I doubt she considers it "rape" though. She is going to make Kayla think Steve was more than willing to have sex with her. Even though she forced him to sleep with her in order to free Kayla from being held captive she will probably leave out that important piece of information.

I said it earlier but way too much talk about John's dad for him to be dead. And what a good man he was. Clues dropping all over the place

But they balanced it nicely with the stuff about their love for each other.

I totally hate Andre, but I cracked up at him mocking Rafe and Hope today.
Andre is the voice of the audience when it comes to Rafe/Rope.

Shoot me now as Ciara, calls the fire department from inside the house.
Hope continued to scream at both kids to get out of the house but they just stood there staring at her like she was stupid. They never did leave the house until the fire Marshall/department got there.

So. HOPE'S idea was to take out Andre. Awesome.
Technically, Hope just said they needed to stop Andre. Rafe assumed "by the look in her eye" that she was thinking about killing Andre. lol. Hope's reply wasn't "you're right. that's what I was thinking", it was simply "then give me options". So technically, she didn't vocalize that she thought they should kill Andre. Rafe only assumed that that's what she was thinking. lol.

Let's be honest, though. It's not like Rafe's ideas have turned out all that great. It is, after all, his fault that Andre was able to find Stefano's dead body & has actual justification for going after Hope (& Rafe). And wasn't it Rafe's idea for Hope & the kids to leave town? Their going to the Horton Cabin allowed for Andre to break into her house, find the gun (that he technically can't tie to Stefano's murder, but he doesn't care), & plant the bug.

Liked how they shot the fire and loved the opening musical accompaniment. What was that classical tune? It sounded so familiar. I imagine the teens would have stayed put rather than leave Hope fighting the fire alone. Fire extinguishers are extremely messy and send a ton of powder into the air. I liked everyone coughing, but it would have been a nice touch to have one of them run to open the front door to let the smoke/extinguisher spray out.

I think the firefighter would be able to tell where the fire originated, but ok Days. As much as I want to see Shawn and Hope sharing scenes, I think Rafe was right to hold back Hope from involving Shawn in this. It's not right to put him at risk too when she knows this was foul play.

Andre mocking Rafe and Hope's panic was deliciously evil. I laughed. I also laughed at Rafe's expression at being put back on Hope's crazy train of revenge. She wants to eliminate Andre now! Give her another option quick Rafe! Although, Hope furious that her children were targeted to be killed along with her is definitely a reason for this momma bear to show her claws!

Finally Hope figures out the house might be bugged. Duh! What took you so long? I know, I know! It ups the drama! And, actually it did. I was so relieved when she removed it leaving Andre in the dark.

Ciara and Chase had good scenes today. I liked how the tension escalated. Ciara was pretty blunt about questioning Chase's motives and Chase's anger at having to prove himself because of his father's actions were well done. I could feel Chase almost giving in that he is indeed destined to be bad.

I really enjoyed the follow up today for the Hope, Rafe, Andre, Chase and Ciara story. It kept me the most interested.

I thought it was Chase's phone that started the fire when it was ringing. Whose phone was he using at Jennifer's?
Did n' t CIARA find one of those burner phones Chase used to send the texts to Theo? Maybe Andre called that phone and that is the one that was In the backpack.

The Ava scenes were definitely pointless. It would have been much better storytelling to not see her redundant breakdown, have Steve come back and try to get things together again, get the apology text and not know what to make of it, and then she pops up a few days down the line. Steve should have threatened her with prosecution before he left her, so he'd have good reason to think she wasn't coming back to town.

I did enjoy the cut from her wailing on the floor to Hope spraying the fire extinguisher everywhere. Maybe the editor had a little fun there.

Loved almost everything about the S&K scenes, except that they were all predicated on Ava forcing Steve to sleep with her. I like that they've been building trust, and it has escalated to a big situation where he just can't keep his promise to be honest. I love how they're both playing this -- it doesn't feel naive from Kayla's side, or uncomplicated from Steve's. And Joey is finally having the sort of conflict with Steve that should have been there from the beginning. (Think how much more impact that scene of him walking in on his and Ava would have had, if Steve had really been working to earn his trust all these months.) I'm sure this story will be dirt again to me soon, but not hating this part.

With the Hope/Jen and Ciara/Chase stuff too, strongest show of the week. I wish I could get into the John/Marlena scenes, but I just can't with his past. :(

It's quite obvious you hate all things Rafe in this story, but it's a bit much to lay blame for every plot twist at his feet.
