Seeing the return of Katherine Bell was fun. I don't think Stephen Nichols knew what the hell was going on though. He looked so bewildered and lost the whole time. I do think the chill Julie felt before going into Ava/Steve's dream was a nice touch.
He probably was. I've noticed that it's pretty easy to tell when SN is feeling something and is fully engaged and when he's not.
I don't think so. I think he played it that way deliberately. I think Steve was supposed to be the secondary player in the whole thing and Kayla was the strong one. He might have thought the whole thing was silly, but I didn't feel he was disengaged.

These dreams are really boring. This is much worse than I imagined.

Just finished watching. I actually didn't mind Abby's dream. It didn't play out the way I thought initially after reading some recaps.

I love the shot of Chad sleeping with Thomas in his arms :wub2:

So now to the dream....

Abby has always feared that "Dimera" Chad will appear. That wasn't new IMO so I don't think that was really foreshadowing there. And Real Chad won out. Abby saved him. I think that was foreshadowing to come much later when/if Abby comes back because I could see Chad going a teeny bit dark after Abby leaves. Abby is his "light" and brings Chad back.

I loved the line "A love like ours is once in a lifetime" Hope we hear that line from them again

Ciara's dream made me laugh lol

Well it isn't starting well - Julie and Doug sitting in club TBD with the bunch of framed photos they lugged over there.

Pretty heavy handed junior school writing.

Looks like everyone's covered the awful aspects so maybe I'll concentrate on the good.

Ari looks pretty.

They've stuck with the traditional hourglass opening.

So it sounds like these dreams had no cinematic themes.
. . .or cinematic value.

I tell y'all no lies when I say that Ciara's dream was like a bed redo of something like Sabrina, the Teenage With and I fully expected a talking cat and canned laughter! So bad.

There were parts to this episode I found very entertaining. I definitely wouldn't say it's the worst when I've seen some miserable episodes that have made me wonder if the show was worth my time anymore. This episode had some problems flowing well, but I liked the idea of dedicating the hour to various characters dreams. Why not indulge a holiday with some originality especially if it gives us insight into characters thoughts. But if you're going to do that, then really go there and give the audience insight.

My biggest complaint would be about Ciara's dream. While I liked her breaking the wall style wise, I hated that the dream focused on her dark and light side when we've seen nothing to give us the impression she is struggling with that! This two-sides to Ciara was messy and led to confusion over what we as viewers should be perceiving from Ciara. WTH? If they wanted Ciara this way then they should have developed her story in this direction. You can't just throw it out in a dream and say this is what she's about. I'm equally insulted they implied she has dark romantic feelings for Chase right before they drop the bomb coming next week.
This dream felt completely off base and horribly written.

On the flip side, Ava's dream that morphed into Steve's dream was good. It was clever and fun and a nice way to give some Valentine kisses back to the fans. I think the actors were enjoying playing out those scenes too!

I also enjoyed watching Abby's dream with the double Chad's. It didn't tell us anything new, but I liked Abby knowing the real Chad as she took down the evil sided imposter. It reinforced that his DiMera ties will continue to be problematic, but that together they can overcome the obstacles. It entertained me and the final scene of them as a family in the square was sweet.

Rafe's dream wasn't staged very well. Was he asleep or was this a random daydream? The chess board of Stefano's rings didn't work visually either. Was he sweating out the outcome of the match? Could he hear Hope's cries for help? Again, poorly written and executed. Andre holding Hope as Rafe overhears him recounting Rafe's past failures was telling, but came across almost muffled because of how it was staged. I'd think that would be the most important part of the dream for him because next Hope dies in his arms. She said he didn't fail her, but he has. The waking from the dream focusing on Valentine's Day was also stupid.

Theresa's dream was silly. Was any thought put into that?

I know people are pissed more focus is being put on Daniel. Yes, it'd be nice if they let him go already. Daniel fatigue has hit us hard. I wasn't looking forward to more of him either and I would rather they had picked another couple to give the time too. Something light and fun for Marlena and John perhaps? I'd take some silly there. I just can't stand to see anymore crying Nicole! Was this necessary to include for a Valentines Day theme? I ended up feeling so sad at the end of the episode because there was poor Nicole in tears while all the other couples walked around her. Ugh! If they wanted a Daniel says it's okay to move on segment the should have put it in at a different time. It dragged any good feeling away.

I didn't mind having all the couples come together in the square if it would have flowed together better. It didn't really make sense the way they portrayed it with what's happening in their stories. Rafe and Hope, Ciara and Theo in particular.

A bumpy episode for sure. Better than the last one held on July 4th with the Oscar theme though.

There seems to be way too much of the actors opinions making its way into stories....

No thanks. As much as I hate Dorito Dan, I HATE sad Nicole more.
While I never thought anything could surpass my loathing of EJami and The Orange One, I think today's episode might've skipped right past both of those things in wearing a cupid's diaper!
