I want to believe maybe he blanked out and went totally in Chase character or something for that comment but it really felt like Jonathan was just being a tool that girls should probably stay away from at the moment he expressed those thoughts on the story. Edited by AngelaP, Feb 19 2016, 11:41 PM.

Yeah, sadly his comments aren't that uncommon. That's why it frustrates me so much when this show misrepresents rape and/or sexual assault because there are so many out there who are largely ignorant on the issue. Edited by cord08, Feb 19 2016, 11:49 PM.

Wow... this is scary. The boy needs to be educated about rape culture. This makes me worried about the story the show is telling as well, I want the writing to make it clear that Ciara is not to blame for her rape. Because that doesn't sound clear to Jonathon. Hopefully the scenes with Ciara and Marlena will accomplish that. |

I mean as an actor you have to find ways to justify your character's actions even if you disagree with them, maybe that's what he was doing there and what the acting coach told him. I'm sure RSW had to do the same thing to get angry at Abby. But when you're not on the job, you should be able to distance yourself. |

Most people at the age of 19 should be able to understand that no means no. No excuses for those comments. Good lord, Jonathan. :flipoff: |

IMO, Josh is going to write the story well. There's absolutely no question. They're probably going to have Chase say what Jonathan said; they're probably going to have Ciara question herself due to that. The questioning will not make this a badly told story. Rape victims will often question what they could have done different; same goes for the "uneducated" viewer (questioning what the victim should have done different to stay out of the situation). |

What I take from these comments is that, like a lot of victims, Ciara didn't fight back because she was scared Chase would hurt her more if she did. And like a lot of rapists, Chase thought that meant it wasn't rape. |

As an actor you are put in the spotlight and with that comes some responsibility, like it or not. For Jonathan to come out and say such inaccurate and downright repulsive things about his currently playing teen rape storyline is irresponsible! First of all Ciara has NOT been flirting with him and she most certainly has not led him on. Secondly and most importantly saying "no" is not a technicality, no means exactly that no! The simple fact that Chase pushed Ciara back down and held his hand over her mouth, it even more proof that the act was rape! It is such a contrast, you have VJ wanting to send the right message and promoting a place for victims to call and then you have JMC basically giving the rapist a pass by saying well she was flirtatious and asked for it, so she didn't really mean no, no hat, no foul. Also to add, in reference to he will win an Emmy...conceited much?! Edited by DaysBopeLuv, Feb 20 2016, 12:24 AM.

He has been giving me bad vibes on Twitter for about a week or so now. He's young but I think too many people are tweeting him praise and he's building an ego. I agree this is trending towards a Bryan Craig situation. I really hope he's already done with the show. |

I know it's not the best comparison but I remember Heather Mills coming on and talking about prosthetic legs when Phillip had to get one. I can't believe they didn't sit Jonathon & Vivan down with an adviser for this specific story line. And if they did and that's what he got out of it, then that's really sad. One of my girls asked what was up with Kesha today so I took that opportunity to climb up on my soapbox about these type of situations. No means No and god forbid anything like that happen, but immediately tell someone & get the police involved. I'm disappointed by Days because it doesn't look like Ciara is going that route. They also haven't included any info for rape victims yet. |

I've found myself wanting to say "why didn't she fight harder?" I didn't believe she wanted it AT ALL but I've had to stop myself from saying "why didn't she fight harder?" It's a stupid question because "no" is more than enough. I remember when I was in elementary school, I was friends with this boy roughly my age who lived in my building. He suggested we play house one day. So he got it to the point where we were lying down on the couch and he was starting to get fresh. I told him to stop, and I got up and left very quickly. I can't imagine what I would have done if he had gone harder at me, pushing/covering the mouth. |

If you get mugged on the street, you are supposed to give up your possessions instead of risking getting hurt. Nobody will blame you for not fighting it and say you wanted to get mugged. |

Do I even want to know? :shame: I know that social media is kind of a requirement for most actors these days, but I would specifically avoid Periscope like the plague if I were an actress unless I was at some event like the Days 50th party. |

He's lucky those get deleted after 24 hours. Although there's always the possibility that someone records them. |
