Let me preface this statement by saying I despise everything about Andre. He's an absolute cartoon and I prefer realistic soap with characters who might actually exist. Let me also preface this statement by saying I generally like Hope and enjoyed bouncer Rafe. Let me also preface by saying both Andre and Stefano are horrible human beings.......

All that said..... I am rooting for Andre over the supposed "good guys" and I probably shouldn't be. I don't know if this is some weird attempt to make Andre some sort of antihero or what but if I'm supposed to look at this storyline and be loyal to Hope till the end.... it's not really working for me? I don't know if DAYS understands the concept of rooting for the underdog (I know for sure Corday doesn't) or what but... I am confused about what I am supposed to be feeling here.

Unrelated: Joey really reminded me of Massey's Will when he was going off on Steve when he first came home.
I don't think we are supposed to view Andre as an anti-hero. Andre is a villain. The storyline ruined Hope, further destroyed Rafe, and Andre looks foolish. It's a lose-lose for everyone involved in the poorly written sl. :( Rope are completely unrootable. I have no sympathy for any of those three, but I want Rafe and Hope to pay for the crimes they've committed.

Rafe and Hope sure can lie. Maybe they ARE soulmates.

Anyway, this works fine. Honey, you look horrific.

I've seen several posts that this could all be some "Hope psych hospital dream". They've kept them in such bubbles that they could possibly make that work - Dena's done some real damage to other characters (Steve and Kayla) that with good writing can be redeemed but Revenge Hope is a clusterfuck. I vote for a Bobby Ewing:

I was going to wait until Eric's exit to bow out, but this rape atrocity forces me to quit this simpleton show effective immediately. Another complete waste to throw on the heap pile this show has created.

I don't understand the disparity in how different character's wounds heal on this show. Brady's open heart surgery has no scar but Andre's face will never be without that wound. It will surely become a permanent scar.
Maybe Andre is the new Scar from Lion King who must always be marked to show the audience this is the bad guy despite how backwards the story is

I would think Kayla, after hearing from Steve what happened, would have to ask herself how it was that Ava finally did let her get out of that room. Wouldn't she wonder about that? And think possibly that the only way Ava would have let her go was if Steve DID have sex with her?

I don't get why Faux or any SPD cop, or Justin for that matter, would care about the possibility that Andre killed Stefano. I find that kind of hilarious. Why would they let Rafe waste everyone's time on a possible murder?

Well we know he does fallout because of his writing on Y&R and OLTL...his stories all had huge fallout and were drawn out.
Were they? I have no experience with him, but I've heard good things. Or... people say when he was left alone without too much network demands, he did really solid work. And he did say he's been a fan for many, many years. As with everything else (I gave Dena a chance too, until she showed it was undeserved), I will give him a chance until he proves me wrong. But that gives me hope.

Or St. Elsewhere. Just give Theo a snow globe....

Interestingly, St. Elsewhere had a weird obsession with rape stories.

I have a hunch (and that's all it is) that this will absolutely be in play when the video comes out on Friday.

Misc tidbits (out of order) from CarolynTopol twitter:

Ciara admits to Theo that hovering Hope is kind of nice; Theo says can keep her secret about liking protection;

Ciara doesn't want to stop being best friends w/Theo-doesn't want it to change; Ciara goes to get them more hot chocolate
Ciara & Theo on bench; Ciara glad Stef left town but knows Theo misses him; Theo talks about Stef fondly; Theo&Ciara talk about Lexi/Bo memories

A few more tidbits about Theo from twitter:

Theo in HTS
Joe joins on bench telling Theo his dad's being a jerk;

Theo told Ciara he was into her;
[I think the recapper meant ... Theo tells Joey that Theo had told Ciara he was into her]

Joe says he knew it

Theo tells Joe about Chase getting in the way-does whatever he wants

The thing is, we don't know how Josh does fallout. He may do it well. We know Higley doesn't, and we know josh didn't get a chance to. We don't actually have a frame of reference here.

Wasn't he the one who wrote Billy/Chelsea's rapemance?

I agree with all that. ANd I do think this has the potential to be an amazing story for Days. Even be a huge storyline for starting the Ciara/Theo's romance. I think my faith in Days writing team has just been bruised that they will do it correctly, so im wary until I see it play out
Oh, I absolutely agree on that part. It's hard to have faith, although I have more faith in Josh (who I firmly believe is behind this story) than Dena (who clearly didn't follow up on the set-up Josh started). I know people (not you necessarily) think that Andre's role is provide Chase an "out" but I really don't think it is. First off, I'm not sure how it would - he wasn't drugged, or subjected to brainwashing, he was simply influenced. Second, I really think it was just a way for Josh to speed up the set-up which was supposed to be happening for the last three months.

And, ironically, one of the reasons I have a little faith that this might be handled better is the Steve and Kayla stuff. I know Steve hasn't told the whole truth (and that's going to blow up his face) but he's been a lot more honest with Kayla than ever thought he would be. And his reactions - both immediately after he was forced to have sex with Ava and since he's been home - have been far more layered than I expected. Even though I fully believe what happened in that hotel room was rape, I never expected the show to treat it that way (for numerous reasons). But (stupid promo voiceovers aside) they are treating it as consensual or something "he wanted" either. I don't know that I can explain it exactly, but they've handled the aftermath of that quite differently than I feared they would and I guess that gives me hope that now that Josh is back in charge, this Ciara story will be handled better as well.
How does anyone know that Chase was not brainwashed or drugged. I found it a little odd that Andre was shoving food at Chase that he didn't touch himself. Just because it didn't happen on screen with a picture tutorial doesn't mean it didn't happen, so brainwashing or some sort of mind control could be a possibility as well. It seems clear to me that Andre is using Chase as a pawn in his revenge scheme. If he can do it to Chad, it shouldn't exactly be a shocker that he would do the same to Chase.

Sounds like he pushed her onto the couch saying no.

Oh it's worse. He covers her mouth. Tells her we both want this.
:frownie:
Sick sl now they'll be the next Sami and Ej...
There is really no telling what Days might do with this, but I really don't think they will go there with these two...at least I hope not.

This episode was so fucked up. I literally just started watching again last week, but it looks like I'm going to have to go on another break already. I will NOT watch "Rapes of Our Lives." :angry:
You wouldn't have wanted to watch during the 70's and 80's then.

Raped:

Marlena
Julie
Kimberly
Kayla
Jennifer-1990"s
Sami-Alan and then E.J.
Maggie too.
Adrienne.

Enjoyable show.

That said, the writing for Days is about as lame as I've seen, and I watched JER's Days. :laugh:

Probably. That's what happened to Todd on OLTL after he raped Marty, which Josh also co-wrote.

Wasn't he the one who wrote Billy/Chelsea's rapemance?
Do you mean the rapemance between Billy and Chelsea on Y&R that was shown after Victoria and Billy broke up, and while Victoria was dating Stitch?
That was in 2014-2015.
Josh left Y&R in Oct 2013.

I'm not sure who was writing when Chelsea raped Billy in Asia. I wasn't watching back then.
