Thanks nananana for posting. Since this is all Josh's story, I'll watch to see how it plays out. I've never seen his other work before and today's show was hard to watch.

I didn't like the idea of the storyline at first, and in no universe do I condone what Chase did -- regardless of what Andre said to him.

But, I'm not familiar with Josh's work either and having seen the pics of DHer with VJ, it gives me a glimmer of hope that they will play this out as it should be - a crime, and won't try to romanticize it in any way.

At the current rate of speed that these storylines move, Ciara and Chase will have totally forgotten about it and be best friends by the end of March like it had never happened.

That's right I'd forgotten about that pic Dee posted with VJ thanks for reminding me No1_ILoveLucyFan. Like you I hope it ends up with Ciara getting long term counseling from Marlena. Hope is too mentally gone right now to see any of the signs and Hope was never raped thankfully some close calls but at this point she won't know the signs and someone like Jenn who would know is too doped up with her own health problems. The only other person who i want to see heavily involved in this story is Aunt/Stepgrandma Julie who was raped as well and helped out Jenn with her issues 25 years ago.

This is what I was just asking for in the daily episode thread. The show needed to do something public to address this and having VJ come out and do this along with a PSA was a good idea.

I figured this was Josh's story but seeing her mention him cements it. It sucks there was no buildup because of the obvious transition from Dena's stuff but I have confidence that Josh and Beth will handle this well.

Yes!

Marlena was also raped, so having her be the therapist has good beats to play too. Both Hope and Julie could come to her with their concerns, and Marlena notices the signs, Julie asks her point blank (she's Julie) if she thinks there's a chance. Maybe she even sees her around Chase (since Ciara probably won't tell anyone at first, which is sadly very common, especially for someone so young). It'd be a good way to bring back the rape seminars they did in the 80s. It can never be reiterated too much how it is about power, not sex, and that it is never, ever the victim's fault.

I'm glad people (on social media) are finding it so uncomfortable though. It should be. Rape is a sore, uncomfortable, important subject. I mean, the person who said "I like Chase, Ciara deserved it" made me want to stab him verbally with a pitchfork in his eyes, but other than that... at least people are reacting when they see it happen. Outrage is the right response to anyone being violated. And hopefully DAYS follows up with a responsible storyline.

I actually hope the play the Claire angle as another part of this story too. She had a crush on Chase. Does that continue not knowing what he did? This could tie a bunch of them together. Theo Ciara Claire and all their parents/grandparents

I'm tired of all the traumatic events, that's not what I want to see on soaps. What I want is romance and escapism.
I don't know what Griffith has in store for the next 6 months but it's more of the same, I hope he gets fired.

I love romance too, it's my favorite, but I would still rather have dark-fall-of-2015-style Griffith than anything from the last... 9 years. Whenever Corday de-fanged Sheffer and took away his vets.

MarDar wasn't as harmful, but they were boring as hell. Tomsell were terrible from the day they took effect, and well, after Sheffer came Higley, so...

I don't mind the dark. But they have to balance it a little. There's rumors of multiple weddings, maybe that'll help.

I thought JER (2003-2006), MarDar (2011-2012) and TomSell (2012-2015) were all better than what we have now. That's pretty much all I've seen of the show. I miss the time when Salem was a fun place for me, now it's just dreadful.

Someone commented on DAYS becoming a bit more like Y&R and I'm starting to agree. It's becoming a bit like Young and the Restless and 2000's General Hospital.

Hopefully they hit all the right beats with this Ciara story, I hate it especially since she was only 12 just 6 months ago which makes it all the more icky. But I want to see Ciara share scenes with Hope, Julie, Jennifer, Kayla and Marlena, people who can help her through this and counsel her.

Say what you want about James Reilly but the man knew how to hit all the right emotional beats. He knew how to write romance even though he was obsessed with creating obstacles after obstacles after obstacles after obstacles after obstacles for our couples, he definitely knew who belonged with who, and who the fans wanted to see together.

I hated TomSell, so much that I barely watch a single episode from June 2013- January 2015, (sneaked a couple of episodes for Billy Flynn, EJ's death, Sami's exit...etc) I only came back for the 50TH, Bo's return, the return of Shelle!! and Jarlena's reunion!!

MarDar was boring but it was the lesser of all evils.

I'm enjoying Griffith so far, despite all the darkness. Still better than 2010-2014.

He did! I was just talking to a friend about 1996 the other day. Man, I hated and loved that period. But I watched! Ran home to watch, actually (and if you knew just how much I abhor running, you'd get what a big deal that is)!

2013-August 2015, I didn't enjoy anything. I just hated it and FF or tuned out. Gave it several attempts, but nah.

Last time I actually enjoyed the show (not one character, one couple, a story) was Sheffer pre-Santeen letters. And before then it was the Serial Killer story of JER's from 2003-2004 (Up until the shootout and Marlena dying. Then it was a crapshoot. The island sucked.). Before then was summer of 1997. So to have like 4 months where I genuinely enjoyed the show? It was heaven!

It does need romance and humor, but they've fixed things that mattered, so I hope it's coming. And even if it doesn't... still better than 2007-August 2015.

Yes. I have no problem with dark storylines but they need the balance of romance and adventure and fun.

Traumatic events are kinda what soaps are known for, though.

That and romance. A nice combination of both would be good.
