Actually, I think it's more like Ava is tied to Steve and Kayla. And TB is definitely gone, after next week probably. I think there's plenty of things the writers can do with Steve/Kayla/Joey that don't involve Ava. It's just that Dena isn't talented enough to write those things. |

They were right until Corday and another of his "pets" not named Josh Taylor got their way. It had big potential possibilities but once I'm sure Dena is fully in and Josh G's stuff stops airing, I'm out for sure. I would think SN and MBE won't re-up contracts once they go out; cause they had issues before and that will take a nice size of viewership gains they made out the window. |

Can we start a campaign to fire Higley? Hire Ron Carlivati or Sheri Anderson.

You would think some higher ups would realize how inept corday and Dena are why the hell can't they stop this train wreck?? |

I'm beyond bummed. Kayla belongs as Salem's doctor, it's a perfect fit and has been forever coming to begin with. Steve belongs with her. I was looking forward to John's story. Now I guess I have to hope it's at least a last good one for J&M and family. So much for BlackPatch investigations, though I was a bit worried that hasn't taken off yet. I was hoping Steve would be involved in John's story too. |

This is bad news. I was actually enjoying the show for the most part. Maybe a little less now than I did when the writing team first changed but its still watchable. |

The ironic part is well probably see BlackPatch and John's story start soon. Because Josh wrote it once Higley got locked away. But she's escaped. Oh I was in the don't need a wedding camp. But now I totally need the supercouples remarried before the wheels come off. Edited by Lovejm, Feb 18 2016, 09:00 PM.

I wonder if she is going to be trying to bring any of the dead characters back? |

Dena has history with Days. She was a staff writer at Days back in 1985. That's why Ken Corday kept her! She knows history. If James E. Reilly was alive, Ken would have asked him back before Dena because he knew how to bring ratings up! |

I wish someone with job security (haha, I know) and clout would call out this bullshit. I was just reading an article about when Josh was fired from Y&R, and apparently Eric Braeden tweeted, "[L]et me just say, I'm very pissed off." HAHA! I don't really like Braeden, but it'd be nice to have someone on the cast similarly tell it like it is. I know why they can't, but still.... Edited by cord08, Feb 18 2016, 09:09 PM.

Yes, of course. How will characters like Steve and Kayla with a rich 30 year history ever go on without the presence of Tamara Braun and the throwaway character of Ava?? :eyeroll: :shame: Anyway, this is bad news for the show. They dump Griffith and keep Higley? We're screwed. |

Uh huh. Do your twirl. I'll do mine when Ava's in a body bag, hopefully soon. And may she stay forever dead. It was Dena's idea to bring Ava back, I figure, but it was also Dena's idea to make her do incredibly awful things so that I and many other Days fans would continue to despise the character. I'll be super glad to see the last of her, regardless of Stephen and Mary Beth's status. If I'm meant to lose Steve and Kayla, I'll lose them. Having Ava around isn't going to make one bit of difference. |

Maybe they're contractually obligated to continue with Dena and plan to dump her in a few months. Josh could be coming back. Dena could feel threatened by decent writers which causes her to go crazy. She may do better with the lesser known Quan. |

Yeah, I don't have any hope for any weddings, TBH. I mean, May Sweeps sounds like another disaster/event story. Maybe there's some hope for an April wedding(s)?? Sigh. This sucks. LOL. On another note, that wardrobe girl is still favoriting tweets about what a disaster this change is. They must really dislike Dena BTS. God, that makes me even more sad. Nothing like going to work and not liking what you're required to play. |

I'm not as equipped to understand the real repercussions of this as most of you, but I'm pretty sure I'm very sorry about this news if all of your reactions are anything to go by. I just do. not. understand. the soap writing world. I just don't. It's like they constantly shuffle around the same people and just think "this is a show that's been around for 50 years, as long as we keep shoving some shit at them, our loyal viewers will watch it." How insulting. I just see this manufacturing line in my mind's eye... a moving conveyor belt that's rusted and old and out of date, but as long as it keeps moving, it's considered productive. Replace your crappy equipment Days. Quit rebuying the same one that broke down right before you threw it out the last time. What other media platform/format has such a freaking ENORMOUS wealth of time, history and opportunity to draw from? Is there no fresh young blood that wants to take this on? Or is the establishment so incestuous they'll never let anyone try? As for the Will backlash (if that's even a factor here) the most ironic thing to me of all is that IMO, it wasn't the overall idea of having Will die that was so bad, but I'm absolutely sure TPTB don't understand this, and that's the problem. Though there would still be people who would disagree with that decision no matter what, if they had taken the time and appropriate considerations in writing that story that seem so INCREDIBLY and blatantly obvious to most of us with brains and a capacity for understanding basic human emotions... it might've been a story very worth telling. But they just flat out ruined it. A show that is literally on for an entire HOUR, 5 days a week, does not understand how to allot an adequate amount of time and depth of storytelling to a character who has been on screen for his entire life? I mean, I nearly despised Will by the end, but what happened to him was tragic and sad and he was still loved by people on the show. But you wouldn't really know by the way it was told. Do these people just not know how to use the Internet? I mean I feel like most of what you need to know about what keeps people engaged in television these days is spread out for the taking all over the web and they're all just ignoring it. History. Balance. Depth. Emotion. PAYOFF. Why is this so hard? Sorry for the rant. I really don't have a dog in this fight as much as most of the rest of you but again... it's the wasted potential. I feel angry on your behalves. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Edited by Luce, Feb 18 2016, 09:26 PM.
