And everybody should be re-tweeting her tweets and adding their own. #notoHigley Yep. I have been. She has been awesome as has Matt and others.
I actually tried calling the comment line a few times. Not sure if it's just issues on my end but I couldn't get through. I wish I could find the direct contact info for Steve Kent, Ken Corday, and Greg Meng. I would call their offices personally.

I don't think a campaign at this moment is going to work. Frankly, one of the main reasons Corday and Days had to listen in 2011 was because the ratings were atrocious. That is why our campaign worked then. At this stage the ratings are not bad. An argument can be made that we cannot afford to wait around and let the ratings get that bad or else by this time next year we'll be saying goodbye to Days, BUT, the urgency isn't there. I still think her LOA is weird .
Her LOA is why it's a good time. ;)
I frankly think she's been back for a while, but we just haven't heard it officially. Do you think if she would have been still on her LOA they wouldn't have announced it with this article? IDK, that is why I think it's weird...I don't think she's still out, I think she's been back likely since the start of the new year in some capacity, maybe not full time, but if she would have still been on her LOA as this story was breaking, I think it would have been announced that Beth was still subbing for Dena while she's on her LOA and that Josh was out. No mention of Beth at all is very strange to me...meaning, Dena came back right before Josh decided to go...likely why he decided to go... She hasn't been back. If she's back, that was the signal of it happening.

The #notoHigley hashtag is currently the most hilarious (in a sad, bad way) thing I've seen on Twitter this week.
I feel badly for laughing, but sometimes people just need to be dragged for filth.

Actors being fired isn't the only concern. Keeping them around is just as bad. Dena's Chad isn't the Chad Billy has been playing.
I said that to someone earlier. She'll turn him into EJ. That was one of the concerns I brought up over Abby's dream during the Valentine's Day episode. It seemed like they were headed to EJami 2.0 with Chad wanting to be a good man for Abby/Thomas yet retain his "DiMera" heritage.

Griffith is also a novelist and he has written several books that have serial killer or macabre themes. He also inspired a book by Michael Malone called "The Killing Club based on an idea by Josh Griffith". Wasn't "The Killing Club" a storyline on One Life to Live like a decade ago?

Dena can suck it.
I hope BF doesn't lose his job over her!!! 😒
Pretty sure that's how she keeps her job. I'm thinking that she has some major blackmail material on KC to tell you the truth. Maybe he saw him having a three way with 2 guys.

The more I look at some of the other reactions to this news on the Internet, the more I'm convinced that Ryan Quan was put in that position partly for "looks." By "looks" I mean they put him there so folks would go, "Oh, look. Fresh blood. And an Asian headwriter, too. That's good news!" Because that's exactly what's happening in some places, and I think it distracts from that fact that Higley is still there. I don't want to be hard on the guy because I don't know what he could bring, and I do like more diversity. But...that's just how I see the situation at this point.
I'm also baffled by this theory that Dena will be out soon and that she's just showing Ryan the ropes that I'm seeing in some places. I mean, I would cheer if it were true, and Beth would come back (as some have speculated), but I just don't see any anecdotal evidence to support that theory.
The only thing that makes me question if Dena will stay is the fact that neither Dena nor Ryan seem to be Sony people, and Sony was obviously pushing hard for their people when they brought in Josh and Beth. Why would they give up all influence in the writers' room now?

Characters who had never interacted before were interacting. I think I'll miss this the most. It gets boring with the same people always talking to each other.

This is something I have heard different things about for as long as I've glanced at a message board- did Higley not essentially "create" Sonny (not as a character but as an adult we would see onscreen)? I know she wasn't there during Wilson but there seems to be a discrepancy about her contribution to Sonny's character at least on every board/page I've seen and I would love some clarification if possible :) .
Based on when Sonny showed up (June 2011) Wikipedia says it was Higley/Whitesell writing that brought him back. Then Higley was on her own for a REALLY short stint without Whitesell, and then MarDar began writing in August 2011. I don't know what the actual gap is between writing and airdate, or when their first stuff would've started airing though. Sonny went missing completely in the spring of 2011, so I'd think it was MarDar that was responsible for Sonny's absence since the stuff that was airing then would've been 8 months after MarDar began writing. Basically, we haven't seen Higley write any romance for Sonny, but she did create adult Sonny I guess, and involved him in family stuff for a while I think before MarDar took over and he disappeared. I remember Freddie saying something about how the show sort of "backed out" of writing a coming out storyline for Will, I think. I wonder if that happened around the time Dena was on her own for a short time.

Knowing Dena managed to push people like Scott, Sheffer, Tomlin, Whitesell, Griffith out of the door, there's absolutely no chance he even could pitch an idea. She said the ideas must come from her, not from the team.
Maybe he is the only one from the current writing team who can work with her (and no one else wanted)?

I tend to think that maybe she was allowed to pick her co-writer since her and Josh seemed to have such issues. Corday was probably like, "Who can we bring in that you'd be able to work with, Dena?" And she picked Ryan 'cause she knew she'd be able to "work with" a.k.a. control him.
