I bet what Josh is writing is more expensive to produce that what Dena is writing and that played in her favour, especially if NBC asked them to lower the license fee again in January.
It's like 2003 all over again.

Corday used that same excuse to get rid of Brash and Cwickly, who did an amazing job and had good ratings and were praised by both fans and critics. He got rid of them for Higley because the show was going through renewal issues and had to be more budget conscious and he said she had this amazing plan, knew the show from her long history on the writing team, and could keep the show more in line with a budget.

It was ridiculous then and it's ridiculous now. He just LOVES Higley. No one would keep bringing someone like her back with her track record over and over again unless that was the case.
This reminded me of how Corday in his book praised Higley's work in 2003, when in fact the ratings crashed during her five months as head writer.

Well, this pretty much says it all, doesn't it? I honestly don't think anyone or anything will get through to him. Corday is completely snowed by her, and the only hope we have is Sony stepping in to oust her.

Flourishing? What the hell?
Their leading lady and show's long standing hero, both pissed as hell and the fans enraged over the treatment of beloved vets? Goop for the bounty hunters, Tony skeeving on Marlena, fugue states, Gemini twins... Yes, flourishing indeed.

Only Lumi fans were happy at the time (rightfully so, they were being written!).

Yes, NBC wanted Reilly, or no deal.

So, the pattern is basically Corday hires Higley, the suits at NBC/Sony have her fired and bring in someone else. The other team eventually gets ousted, and he re-hires Higley.

James E. Reilly got viewers drawn in! Did not liked his material but somehow, it worked.....Days is keeping Dena because of no James and she knows the history. She is the one writing currently for Steve and Kayla and ROPE aka Rafe and Hope!

I don't know if Days would hear the viewers cry  Some times, they do.....I have a feeling of why Days let him go was to get someone else, to undo what happened few months...the killing of Aiden and Will. Viewers did not liked the murders at all!

I'm trying to let go, but hearing that Ken Corday maybe actively and conciously chose DH over JG makes me FURIOUS.

He actively choose a failed, crap writer -- a writer that is universally loathed -- as someone who could save the show. A hack, whose idea of writing is on stupid post it notes and that's it! Who can't even write a Facebook post that sounds interesting or coherent!

No fucking words. Corday is an absolute joke. Someone needs to force him out of power.

Someone has to buy Corday out of Days....but that's going to be a hard one because he owns Days. Right now, Days is at their last legs. NBC was hesitant to renew them, even though we heard that they were happy. Anyway, I don't see the future of Days and if this show gets cancelled after August 2017, I would be okay with it...I came to terms with it.

I thought they were saying there was no need to worry about the renewal and they were right.

As it makes perfect sense for NBC to shorten the gap between taping and airing I'm intent to believe it was NBC's demand. I don't see them doing it on their own initiative.

Being off in March isn't going to accomplish much. I do think they want to shorten that time, but I don't think it has anything to do with NBC.
You mentioned April was probably an option, too.
You're probably familiar with the reasons which led them to finally realize that this was necessary. I'd appreciate if you could share them (if it's not a secret).
Not knowing those reasons it's very difficult to believe that Sony and Corday Productions would do this on their own initiative as this may cost them money, especially, if they are really taking two months off. If they had been concerned about how far ahead they were getting, they could have managed to shorten (or at least to stabilize) the gap in a much less drastic way. It's not that they somehow accidentally got 6 months ahead.

Maybe NBC was so hesitant because they knew about Dena. LOL
