Corday is clueless. Fucking clueless.
Clearly doesn't watch his own show, and hasn't for at least 13 years.

Almost Alpha

Yes, the past for John so masterfully created by the truly wondrous Dena Higley and then destroyed and made over again.

I bet what Josh is writing is more expensive to produce that what Dena is writing and that played in her favour, especially if NBC asked them to lower the license fee again in January.
It's like 2003 all over again.

Corday used that same excuse to get rid of Brash and Cwickly, who did an amazing job and had good ratings and were praised by both fans and critics. He got rid of them for Higley because the show was going through renewal issues and had to be more budget conscious and he said she had this amazing plan, knew the show from her long history on the writing team, and could keep the show more in line with a budget.

It was ridiculous then and it's ridiculous now. He just LOVES Higley. No one would keep bringing someone like her back with her track record over and over again unless that was the case.
This reminded me of how Corday in his book praised Higley's work in 2003, when in fact the ratings crashed during her five months as head writer.

Corday seriously thought this? I always felt Higley was riding off of PB/PC's ratings. The show was getting a lot of praise towards the end of 2002 . . . then they were fired and replaced with Higley for "budget" reasons. From then on, show became increasingly boring . . . and I remember the ratings were down by the time JER came back . . . and many of the actors seemed happy with the change. Not that Higley didn't write well for certain characters, I very much enjoyed Lucas and Sami in 2003, but she wasn't underrated, IMO.

lol Corday showed a big fuck you to all the loyal fans when he re-hired Dena I mean come on fans had campaigned for her dismissal and despite this, she becomes re-employed a few years later. This clearly shows that Corday is not interested in having topnotch writers on his soap he is satisfied with a hack like Dena. What I wonder is why NBC / Sony, did not require who/which would be head writers before renewal of contracts, I mean they are satisfied with Dena ??? Sounds insane in these kinds of cases.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deepHowever
Being off in March isn't going to accomplish much. I do think they want to shorten that time, but I don't think it has anything to do with NBC.
You mentioned April was probably an option, too.
You're probably familiar with the reasons which led them to finally realize that this was necessary. I'd appreciate if you could share them (if it's not a secret).
Not knowing those reasons it's very difficult to believe that Sony and Corday Productions would do this on their own initiative as this may cost them money, especially, if they are really taking two months off. If they had been concerned about how far ahead they were getting, they could have managed to shorten (or at least to stabilize) the gap in a much less drastic way. It's not that they somehow accidentally got 6 months ahead.
IDK about April yet, but I heard it was a possibility. The March thing isn't a big deal. It's barely going to affect them. They did the same thing in 2014. Timing wise, they may have done it to get a different regime in place, but it's really just not any different from July of 2014...yet. If they didn't take March off, they'd end up being WAY ahead because of the Olympics.

They definitely dropped under her. She took them from a 3.3 to a 2.6.

So as the days have gone on (like sands through the hourglass if you will), I'm actually a little excited about Ryan Quan. It actually makes me more determined to get Higley out of there. He could be a really good pairing with a competent writer. For all I know, he could be great on his own. But I don't want Higley paired with anyone anymore. We've already seen how that shakes out even with a competent writer. Specifically, he could do really great things for the gay characters. And they actually promoted up. They never seem to do that. I'm pro-Ryan until given a reason not to be.

Hogan was BRILLENT in what he did! He made us drawn into EJ Dimera and I want to know what he was up to, everyday!
Dena...well the best thing that came out of her was the baby switch storyline, which thought would bring EJ and Sami closer together!
Another fact was that SAFE was not working, in later parts (which was 2011 on our tv screen). Thought with Taylor, things would brighten the day with her and EJ. But no :shame: ...The viewers who were the fans of a certain couple at that time, wanted EJ and Sami together! When she knew that things was not going to work, she was planning to put Hope with Rafe, which we see today! But she was fired and Marlene and Darrell took over. I don't believe they were going to put EJ with Sami, but it was the viewers who may have changed Days minds! That's why we got EJAMI from mid 2012 up 2014. 2014 may have been sketchy because James Scott was not sure if he wanted to leave Days. He has bills to pay, however, he went on auditions and snag a job, which lead to his departure as well. That's why EJABBY happened. Also the fact that Alison Sweeney was leaving too.

Anyway...I don't know what Dena is going to do...I am iffy with her but I like some of her storylines right now...Actually only 2! Steve/Kayla & Rafe/Hope!

What a clusterfuck this show is. Can you imagine working there? I would dread going in every day! Hell I'm starting to dread watching it every day!
No. I'd love it. I would kill for the chance to do anything for a TV soap. From head writer to production assistant. I had no idea how to even break into the industry as a midwestern gayboy in the 80s. I spent hours and hours writing by hand five "soap opera-ish" novels. No word processor until the late 80s and too sidetracked by a corporate career as the 90s started. Now the genre is dying and the market for 51-ish newbies is minimal.

And since 98% of actors are unemployed, I suspect most of the actors/extra/dayplayers appreciate a steady, perhaps even irregular, paycheck.

Yes, she wrote that. Only John and Andre were on the boat. Maya was the one who sent the bomb.

Yes DH wrote that. That SL was beyond boring.

Funny enough she's also the one who started this whole Shawn/Belle/Philip triangle back in 2003. Another reason for me to hate her.

The idea of John and Andre as brothers was one of the few things I didn't hate from that time frame lol

I always wondered why Dena Higley's DAYS were so bad. She has such a long history with the show. She worked there under James Reilly and Sally Sussman Morrina, did she not? She should know what works and what doesn't. No one is that stupid. Why are her storylines so out there and so not-DAYS? I think she just does whatever Corday wants, and that's why he loves her so much...and keeps hiring her.
