If anything, it explains 1,000,000X over why her stories are so...out of control? Whacked out?

So as the days have gone on (like sands through the hourglass if you will), I'm actually a little excited about Ryan Quan. It actually makes me more determined to get Higley out of there. He could be a really good pairing with a competent writer. For all I know, he could be great on his own. But I don't want Higley paired with anyone anymore. We've already seen how that shakes out even with a competent writer. Specifically, he could do really great things for the gay characters. And they actually promoted up. They never seem to do that. I'm pro-Ryan until given a reason not to be.
Yes, whatever campaign or things that is done, I hope everyone makes it clear that Ryan is NOT the problem. We're not even wanting Higley gone because Josh left. Wanting Higley gone is about Higley, not someone else. Because we know her, because we've waddled in that shit before. Three times now.

Ryan would probably be a great interim HW, and then he should really learn all the little tricks under a capable, experienced head writer (headwriting a show is a big responsibility, one Higley herself says she can't handle)... and bam, you may have a new soap head writer for the future. Just like Tom Casiello did under Sheffer, and as multiple writers today did under Bell and Marland. He feels fresh. Higley's the problem.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
You'd never believe she's been around the show 30 years the way she treats the show and its history. Josh got it and all he did was watch it on TV.
You know, maybe that's the problem. She never actually watched the show.
Hey look, another thing Ken and Dena have in common! Aw, besties.

I knew she was really crazy. That's why I made all those "loony bin" references regarding her "leave of absence."

Ava is the fictional Dena. Nighttime Hope/Vengeful Hope too.

Good God. This is the epitome of why Higley should never write for this show again. She basically admits that she can't write character-driven stories.

She wants characters to fall in love and shoot each other (a la EJ/Sami). Idiocy. Just idiocy. She doesn't really want them to talk about feelings. In other words, no depth.

Which EP is she talking about? Tomlin or Scott?
nvm Must be Ed Scott
Bet your ass that's Greg Meng or maybe Noel Maxam. Execs at the time, and we know Tomlin doesn't do feelings being talked about.

Dena really does sound like a nutcase. I want her far, far away from this show.

If your job is unhealthy for you and you obviously financially survive without it, find another job. Nothing is worth that. That's me giving a crap. Because it's not personal, it's that she is literally incapable of doing this job (and she even says so!) and absolutely wrong for it. That doesn't mean she won't be great at... woodworking.

Saying you're wrong for something is not called being weak, it's called being aware.

This is what's wrong with most soap writers now. They hate what they do. They don't love their job or the genre. They wallow in self pity because they write for the red headed step child of the entertainment business. They get no respect so they don't care what they write or how stupid it is. Instead of loving and embracing the genre they feel trapped, just waiting to get a break so they can write for a show that can land them in the spotlight and get the respect they desire. They're just biding their time, and ultimately destroying the genre. Whatever you think about James Reilly, you knew he loved the genre. Same with Sheri Anderson.

You know, it's interesting. In all of this craziness, it does appear as though Dena is somewhat aware of her issues. It's just that she doesn't seem know how to handle them.

Anyway, in which she says she's neurotic about being in control. *shocker...not*

I don't stigmatize people with mental issues/illness but if you have it you should be especially careful and avoid stressful jobs.

Yeah... Dena's self-described mental issues shouldn't be the issue, so much as with or without them, she's very bad at her job.

Does everyone know how to schedule tweets?

I'm planning to do more tweets on Monday during the east coast show. I'm going to schedule a bunch and also tweet live. I can give some scheduling pointers if you want.
please, I suck at twitter and I will be at work when I need to do this.

On your desktop, use tweetdeck. You compose the tweet as normal, but if you scroll down there's an option to "schedule tweet" just below the option to add an image. Make sure you know what time zone your twitter is on.

I have scheduled several tweets with pics of Higley quotes to go out between 9:55 and 10 eastern time tomorrow morning. Everyone do what you want, but quote tweeting things like that and adding #NoToHigley and #Days is a good start. The hashtags are already included, but if you quote tweet and put the hashtags in again, that helps.

Just noticed this fact...it's taken 8 years, but Ryan Quan is the first WGA-West writer to be a head writer on "Days" since the strike ended in 2008. Besides Christopher Whitesell (WGA-East), all of the other head writers since 2008 have been those who were strikebreakers and no longer a member of the WGA.

I half-think those book excerpts were ghost-written by folks on this message board and self-published under her name. That would be a fun soap plot. But they are legit and only makes me believe that she is still on her LOA and retains her position due to contractual obligations.

Should be fun viewing after the Olympics....

If a member of my family had that many negative health effects from a job, I would try really, really hard to dissuade them from taking that job again. Life is too short.
