GH is in serious need of a cast cut. So many newbies the show has become unrecognizable. I sure hope it isn't Days. |

I'm excited for this. He's only done very short interviews during the 50th Anniversary party, so it'll be great to see/listen to a more in depth interview and learn some more about him. He's such a cutie :wub2: |

Wow...it's been so long I can't remember :blulaugh: . Here's the thing...no one has had more regime changes, cast overhauls, direction changes than Days. No one. That is why the whole "Plan to Save Days" deal that happens almost yearly has become a punchline. Sure, soaps have changed head writers and producers here and there but nowhere near as much as Days. I almost feel like Days should just change writers/producers yearly since they always seem to have issues and it's gotta be one of the big reasons why so many writers do not want to work for Days. You think back to 2000-2010 and every soap was going through a round of cast cuts every few years but that seemed to calm down in 2010 for everyone but Days. And, when you consider during that 2000-2010 period that most of the soaps only made 1-2 regime changes, it makes Days' pattern stick out even more. Then again, Days changed writers quite frequently in the 80's/early 90's too. Every year or 2 it seemed they changed writers: November 8 December 31, 1965 Peggy Phillips and Kenneth Rosen January 3 July 4, 1966 Peggy Phillips July 5, 1966 May 6, 1975 William J. Sorry for the long post but I figured in light of the discussion it would be good to post the HW list. The show has always shown instability with the head writer position, which is rather interesting especially when you consider that happened in the 80's as well. |

I know it looks like a lot of turnover in the 80's, but if you really look it's seven years of the same . . . writing tree, I guess. It starts with Maggie DePriest and Sheri Anderson in 1982 and goes through the end of Leah Laiman's tenure in March of 1989 and it's a direct line of writers who had worked together. I'm not saying they were all the same, just that I think they all came from the same basic writing philosophy so there was a ton of continuity through those changes. I think that's why, despite the changes, the writing was really pretty consistently good during that era. |

That's actually a good point. I wish it was like that now where you had writers who learned under other writers or were on the writing team and got promoted getting these positions because you would get far more consistency. That is a big issue IMO. There is just too much turnover of cast, writers, producers, etc. |

I think she could. ;) Nicole is very forgiving & knows what it's like to fuck up. She forgave EJ for the whole Fafe debacle which ended up resulting in her mother's death. Also, Eric was driving the car that hit Danny-boy, her twu wuv, so that could definitely change the dynamic. |

Jonathon did another Periscope video (shocker, i know). In this one, someone asked him who his fave person to work with on Days was. His response was Vivian, since she's the main person he works with. But then added "Vivian, Olivia, and Daniel" to the end of his response. |

Means we'll be getting Chase and Claire scenes. Creepy. I think Jonathon is done at Days and probably filmed his final scenes when DC filmed again. |

All of those pre-1990 dates on the Wiki list were taken from my site and added to Wiki by others. However, the list isn't totally accurate in regards to some of the co-heads being listed, which is not the same as head writer. For instance, Whitesell was not the head writer with Dena from 2008-2011, he was in a secondary position. Here's the list as per the scripts and credits, with Higley's start date adjusted to the beginning of the writers strike: Writer(s)...........................................Start Date-End Date.........Episodes (Total) Peggy Phillips & Kenneth Rosen...........11/8/65-12/31/65.............0001-0038 (38) Peggy Phillips......................................1/3/66-7/4/66..................0039-0167 (129) William J. Wait, I'm a bit confused. You say Whitesell wasn't a HW but was in a "secondary position?" He was referred to as a co-head writer and credited when Tomlin came in as EP in October 2008 right up until he was fired in early 2011. That is no different than when he was credited as co-HW with Tomlin from 2012-2015. Not understanding that. You have Dena listed as by herself from 2008-2011 and the credits, mags, and such indicated otherwise. I even think your site used to indicate otherwise too, Jason. What am I missing? |
