Belle could not support Claire when she wanted to go to Juilliard - choosing to go to Las Vegas with Phillip instead - but now thinks buying her a nightclub is a great idea.
But she didn't "not support" her going to Juilliard.
She chose not to go with her to New York for the audition. Right. That's slightly different from being unsupportive.

Roman doesn't believe Ava.
Joey and Paige drinking
Belle bought the club and is telling Claire.
Paige is back from the dead! ;)
OMG too funny. Someone compared her yesterday and I guess it stuck. It's the actress's real name lol.

The strobe lights at that party would have sent me into an induced epileptic fit....and I don't have epilepsy!

One point I'll add to the Joey thing: I like that they're seemingly being consistent with him having some anger issues. I always felt as though his forgiveness of Steve/calmer mood in the early months of his return was a Bandaid, and that his hurt and anger would resurface or manifest itself in a much larger manner at some point. I mean, they kind of started doing that to a certain degree earlier in the week with Steve/Joey....
So, as much as I'm not a fan of Joey killing someone, I do think the writers may use this event to further revisit the broad issues that I felt were kind of whitewashed about a month after his initial return. They're going to further whitewash what would actually be good story for another unnecessary murder committed by somebody it was unnecessary to have commit that murder (Stefano didn't kidnap Bo; Ava could have done the suicide-murder trick). Even if it comes out later this was somehow suicide it doesn't negate the smothering and her being alive before it happened. Oh, by good story what I meant was Joey's natural issues with Steve in terms of abandonment.
IMO, the build up was beyond weak here. The young actor does seem stoned in his scenes but there was no implication Joey was a drug addict. No way in heck were Joey's anger issues on murder level, and no way in heck did Steve do anything to him in his life that would make him hold so much anger he could murder people to handle his issues. It sucks your dad ain't around, but tens of millions of kids grow up without one or both of their parents.

TBH, I don't even think Joey killing Ava is that dark.
Same here. Ciara's rape is dark. The stuff in the Fall with Ben and Aiden was dark. I don't think Hope killing Stefano was really that dark because it was played way too campy and took away from the seriousness of it It's interesting because while I do think Days could lighten up a little, it's been dark quite often through the years. Maybe we didn't see quite so much death but the show has had a darker tone to it alot of the years except when it strayed into being way too campy. I was thinking alot about the early 1990's recently (1990-1994) and it was very dark. You had major characters leaving and being killed off, rape, murder...then, of course, you had a woman getting buried alive. Now, they did do a better job of tossing in a bit more comedy and lightness but it was still dark. Go back to Fall 2010 where we had Sami shooting EJ in the head, Arianna getting hit and killed by a car, Johnny having eye cancer, Vivian and Maggie both being locked in a sarcophagus while Isabella's remains were placed in a pet cemetery, and later on we had the two Rafe story which had Rafe traumatizing poor Allie and raping Sami and also killing Fay. Meanwhile, around that time, Jennifer's heart was removed from her chest in a prison story that involved Hope being abused while Chloe was suffering from post partum, tried to kill herself while leaving her baby on the pier, became a hooker and would end up being beaten by an attacker who was targeting woman. That was only a mere 5-6 years ago. It really doesn't bother me and I know it may seem like a bit much in regards to the teens but I honestly would rather have them have heavier material than having them be all "afterschool special" like. That isn't to say I want them to just have rape and murder stories but having them be more involved in serious story instead of just filler and nothing but over the top love stories and triangles is far more interesting to me because Days just doesn't do well with writing teens when they aren't dealing with heavy drama. The last blast teens I liked but when they didn't have serious drama going on it was just way to annoying to watch them. They would regularly come off preachy, too innocent, and boring as all hell. When I think about it, I will pick this dark stuff over the last two years of Tomsell's reign where all they gave us was nonsense bed-hopping and called that romance. At least some of this stuff has some depth to it.

I liked today's episode. In fact, I've been enjoying this entire week. Obviously, there are still issues and some Higley stuff is still being burnt off but it feels like the entire show is Josh now and any stories that aren't his he is at least trying to make them work.
It really does suck we had the Higley derailment of the past few months because right now feels alot like the first month of this regime when things were happening out of nowhere and with no buildup. Back then, it was because the show was trying to set up the anniversary and November sweeps and now they are trying to get rid of the garbage Higley came up with and trying to get back to the stories they were telling before and trying to start new stories as well. It's unfortunate but I will give Josh a pass here because I am interested in alot of this.
I don't mind aging up the teens to around 17-18. I just wish they had done that to begin with. It was already jarring enough aging them but to age them twice in a few months is just sloppy. Unless this was another issue related to Dena and Josh clashing, which I doubt, but who knows. I don't mind this though because outside of Claire, none of the actors or actresses in this teen scene look their respective ages. Sorry but I can't buy VJ or KP playing a 16 year old Ciara or Theo and JL as Joey is hard to deal with as 16 as well. The last blast teens worked in their respective ages because the actors and actresses looked those ages Storms was actually 15/16 when she started. Cook and JKJ both looked younger than they were. NB was really the only one I couldn't buy as 16. All the other supporting teens were older but either could be made to look younger or weren't on enough to matter. You either cast 15/16 year olds or cast actors or actresses that look younger. IMO it just takes you right out of a scene to see someone in their 20's who looks their age playing a 16 year old. I'm already having a hard time seeing Joey with Jade. I like the actress playing Jade so far but she looks like she is at least 5 years younger to him to me and it hurts the scenes. They either have to make her look older or make him look younger. I think they tried that with him early on and it didn't work. I'm guessing they may have aged the teens again because of the darker stories fearing the backlash they will get will be worse if they are all set at 15/16. I don't think it makes a difference because the backlash will and is the same. I just like that we got an actual party today with drinking. It was the most realistic I've seen the teens as opposed to that lame New Year's Eve deal they had. Not saying I endorse teenage drinking because I don't but we all know it happens and if your going to play all of this realistically, it should be included. Only thing I wish they did today was avoid showing the room the party was in. The show is on a budget. I get it. I know they can't have a hundred extras. However, you can make the party give off the appearance that it's packed if you use more closeup, tight shots and avoid showing the entire room. They didn't do that and, as a result, the party didn't look the part, so to speak. I did enjoy the action there and the setup for Joey going after Ava and the Ciara/Claire/Theo/Chase stuff. VJ has really improved of late and KP is coming into his own too now that he actually has stuff to do. All these teens now are improving IMO now that we are actually getting more insight into them and they are actually getting stories of their own.
I'm really curious to see what the stuff with Paul is about. I liked the scenes with Lani and him reaching out to Henry (I believe that is his name) was interesting.
The Belle stuff has been so much better lately. We are getting insight and her relationship with Philip today was shown to have more depth. I liked the scenes today. Even the stuff with Deimos came off better today.
Loved Hope bringing up Eric and I finally am recognizing Hope again. It really helps having her in mom mode right now.
The setup with Steve/Kayla/Ava was good. TB was good in that last scene and I love how they set up the ending with Joey pulling the fire alarm to be able to sneak in Ava's room. Litle stuff like that helps. I can't remember, did they say on the show the teens were 15-16-17? Or is it that we know it from the casting calls.

What I liked about today was better movement of characters around town. They interacted with different people and there was an arc to almost everybody's piece of story today (except random Lani/Paul, which seemed cut all to hell).
The build up to Joey murdering Ava could have been so much stronger, even just today. She's an evil harpy and it would have been great (in a sense) to see her drop her mask with him, and provoke him into a rage that led to him smothering her. Not very well developed. But I'm not that mad about it.
Liked what there was as far as the S/K scenes. It's not all okay, but she wants him there because of the danger. That's fine.
And I don't really care about Phillip and Belle, but it was nice to see a couple in bed for (most of) the right reasons.

Joey must think pretty clearly for a drunk. That fire alarm plan of his was pretty clever. He sure didn't look too intoxicated to me. I guess if commiting murder in an intoxicated state absolves you of responsibility we better get ready for a mass exodus from prisons across America. Sorry, no sympathy for "poor wittle Joey" & Stayla can rot in prison right next to him
Wait if Joey, Steve and Kayla deserve prison then so should Hope, Rafe and Chase. I am so confused, how will this work out for Aiden/Haiden. They should all go to prison :) Orange is the new DAYS?

She chose not to go with her to New York for the audition.
Right. That's slightly different from being unsupportive. Fine.

You know how we had the count for Daniel mentions? I'm going to need someone to do a count of how many times we have to endure the Ciara rape flashback! The rape flashback cannot technically be considered as one singular flashback as both Ciara & Chase have flashed back to varying moments. So while there have been many flashes back to the rape, the show hasn't been replaying the exact same moment each time.
