Camila has been answering questions today on Twitter, Instagram, and SnapChat. Here are some on Instagram I saw:
sonyadriscoll@camilabanus I agree @1caseymoss is talented! I'm so glad that your talent has come back to DOOL. You're amazing. I love your interaction between Ari as well. She's sweet! How do you feel playing a role where you are a mom? Will you be staying for awhile in your role?
camilabanus I loveeeeee playing a mom @sonyadriscoll and yes for a bit more ! (:
dramamamanot Hi Camila, I heard there is a rumor to have Chandler Massey returning to Days. Any truth to this? If so, will there be a huge interaction with yourself again? I have 2 older brothers who drilled the men that I dated. Any situations like this transpiring with the amount of Hernandez men in the mix?
camilabanus @dramamamanot not that I have heard.

Well she's staying for a bit more. Sounds like the end of her contract.

I honestly believe the reason we have barely seen JJ and Gabi and the reason they have no story is because CM only signed for a year. I think it was a "wait and see" thing and if she didn't end up getting any other gigs, she would stay. I remember reading she was in at least one pilot so chances are she has some projects and will be leaving again. I just wish the show didn't bother building up a pairing for her until they knew whether she would stay beyond a year. I would've just focused on her drama with her family and the fallout from Will's death. Maybe give her a few short story arcs and maybe hint at or lay the groundwork to the romance with JJ and then, once you have an idea that she may be staying, go forward with that.

That may have limited their screentime but I don't think that is why they've been pretty much MIA. Your right there is alot going on but I think we would've seen them a bit more often and maybe involved with some of the other things going on but the show just was reluctant to give them too much focus because they knew CB may not be staying for long. There is also CM to consider. I think he probably has a year left on his contract so there is that to consider.
I mean, these are two characters in their 20's and the show is all about younger characters so there is no way I buy them not giving them more to do no matter how much is going on unless they are uncertain about the future of the actor (s). That is the only thing that makes sense IMO.

Camila's is up when they get back to filming I believe.
I don't want to pick on anyone (I'm lying), but I do think the show went too heavy with the Victor/Caroline/Maggie stuff and they still are.

I'm hoping all this means is that she might haunt Joey a little. Otherwise it seems like she would be back for Steve, right? I'm betting that's the case. The way she said that Ava's dead, not gone kind of reminded me of PR saying that Bo wasn't "gone" yet after Bo's death. I bet that Ava haunts him a little before all is said and done. I think TB's last day on the set was about mid-September which roughly equates to early-mid March.

I don't want to pick on anyone (I'm lying), but I do think the show went too heavy with the Victor/Caroline/Maggie stuff and they still are. That, and 15-20% less Hope would leave room for some other stories. JJ/Gabi, Paul, Justin/Adrienne/Lucas, and Lani have all been underserved.
I don't mind JJabi even if she's only here for a year, though. A year should be enough time to tell a story for a new couple.

One year is enough to write a solid storyline - Tomlin/Whitesell did it with ED/Kristen. Oh, and PR/Bo got a decent 3-month storyline.

Have we seen his scene from the monitor and the wig yet?
We must have. It was August 31 Has Steve worn that? Could that be Tobin Bell's wig before the gray was added to it?

But there really wasn't. She didn't even have her own story really. Who? Kristen? I guess it depends on the definition of the term "story" we use. The criteria to see something as "a story" can differ depending on that.
Either way if we compare the writing for Kristen (2012-2013) and Gabi (2015-2016), it's obvious that it is possible to do much more with a character in a year than they they've done with Gabi so far (it might change soon, though).

I agree. Plus, writing a good storyline for an actor makes them more likely to stay even a bit longer and/or return, IMO. Hopefully the writing heats up for JJabi soon with the kidnapping on the horizon.

I just feel like they aren't invested in her character like that. I always wondered why they bothered bringing her back for only a year.
Though, CB seems to love Gabi and said she was always open to returning to Days on Afterbuzz.

OT: I love how Netflix work, I watch Netflix for the first time Saturday because I wanted to watch the Fuller House series, and I had no idea they make the entire season available to you at once.
I love it too. You have the option of watching all at once or watching once a week like a network show. Or somewhere in between. I do that with Days sometimes too. What did you think of Fuller House?
I haven't watched the whole season yet, only watched 7 episodes so far, but I like what I've seen so far, love Max on the show, great young actor. I agree, and I love Ramona and Kimmie too. Episode 3 so far is my favorite. I'm only up to episode 5 though.

I was under the impression they expected Eileen to stay and that her leaving caught them off guard. Maybe that was just an assumption someone made.
