I thought John said "host of whores" and then he walked towards Kate, and I was like WTF? But that's not what happened.

Well. "Checkmate, DiMera" coming from John was pretty awesome.

"I guess the storm really has passed." "I think it has."
Oh, I'm hopeful for how they do this.

I hope this episode plays better than it sounds. So far, it sounds boring.
Yeah, I usually like episodes where characters get to have extended conversations, but I feel like they could have done so much more with this "tribute." For one, they could have shown the characters finding out about his death at different times, in different places. The way it sounds is just kind of ho-hum.
I like remembering the history of the show and flashbacks when used correctly. A whole episode of sitting around talking and flashbacks just doesn't really appeal to me. I like continuous action. JMO. I do wish they had some flashbacks of Bo. This is a serious question but I was wondering how you would have done the episode.
I liked this one but I am all for better ideas.

I wonder where Rafe was? Shouldn't he have been invited? Then he could have held Hope's hand and gave Faux some knowing looks too.
Honestly, he suffered more from Stefano than Victor did. I'm surprised Kate didn't bring up Stefano trying to have Rafe's dick cut off as his ultimate crime against her.
I think they were very intentional about making this all vets. I didn't expect or want him to be there. I was just commenting about it.

Does Rafe even know that it was his cock Stefano wanted Bernardi to amputate and not kill him? Yes. EJ told him in the hospital.

So I'm half and half on this episode. There were some good things, and there were some eh things. I wish it had been more of a literal celebration. A little more lively. I do think there should have been some mention of Princess Gina. Marlena's flashbacks may have been the only ones I truly liked...and even one of them was a little too slow for my liking. They had so much more with especially John that they could have used. I think the group that they had there was fine, but I'd have liked to have heard how Caroline went about making the guest list. Because those people are fine from a fan perspective, but I just can't imagine Caroline calling up Kate for this.
I'm glad they mentioned all of his kids. I'd really like for someone (my personal choice would be Marlena) to talk to Chad about all of his siblings. IDK what context that would work in, but I'd like for it to happen.

To be honest, I found it quite disappointing! Kate there really bothered me. I was OK with Victor, especially if he believes Stefano had anything to do with Bo's death.
Lack of flashback variety disappointed. No Bo, or early Roman or Hope in any of them...so of course that would bother me. I know it is a money thing. But primarily the lack of anger on the part of the characters. I get that it was a tribute to JM but still.....Stefano was a monster and what he did to these people was beyond comprehensible. Caroline lost years of her son Roman's life; Stefano nearly killed Bo when he shot he the first time, Kayla's life with her family destroyed when Steve was held hostage and countless horrid things happened to most of her grandchildren. I wanted more deep anger.
It was simply, to me, actors talking about a character rather than acting like their characters should, IMO.
Seriously, the lack of deep emotions from all the deaths (Will, Bo) has really left me wondering if these writers simply have given up writing good stories and just move from one plot to another. Bo's week was filled with emotion and then NOTHING.
I take it there is lots for the sainted Daniel but that's another topic. The lack of repercussions for so many, from Will and Bo's deaths, in the Horton and Brady families has truly left me feeling resentful about the show. I thought today might get me interested again. But I have to give it a thumbs down.
I STRONGLY disagree with this. There was a lack, but it wasn't in deep emotions. The lack was in making more of a story and more of an ongoing thing. It was a lack of follow up. But Bo and Will's deaths both came with deep emotions. This particular death shouldn't have those kinds of emotions anyway. This idea that no one was upset about Bo or Will is inaccurate. And while Daniel's death definitely dragged longer, it didn't have near the impact either of those did. It's a damn shame they didn't follow up better and keep the characters grieving longer, and it's even more of a shame that they do drag out Daniel's, but that doesn't change what initially aired. This episode was filmed in October, so it was definitely spliced in. I realize that doesn't make some of the weird editing better for some people, but for some reason it helps me. I stand corrected. I should have expressed myself better. Bo's week onscreen and his death were profoundly deep and moving but the aftermath, IMO, for family together, was non-existent. Ditto for Will.....the actual death and funeral showed deep emotions but the aftermath, family of Will, interacting, talking....considering who Will was, also was non-existent.
Hope grieving with Shawn and/or Ciara. When? Did I miss it? Hope and Kayla and Caroline talking with each other???? I do not think after the Thanksgiving toast I have seen Roman or Kay talking with their mother......about that loss. even showing any concern. Who does that?
Did I miss Marlena and Lucas talking, crying together? Or Lucas talking with Jen? Or with anyone in his family at length????? To me, nothing is more profound than the loss of a child yet Will's father's grief pretty much offscreen, while Paige's mother got how many scenes? Bo's mother.......barely any scenes after Thanksgiving. I get that PM is older and does not work as much. But Hope's writing was terrible......no grief. Just vendetta. The only breakdown was with Stefano taunting her. Sheesh.
So we will agree to disagree I suppose still because I continue to find the writing, including today, superficial and unconnected and with too many holes, too many bubble scenes/characters......things even the best actors cannot overcome.

I love that Shawn Sr. and Caroline were saving that bottle of whiskey for this very occasion! Caroline said she was saving it for A special occasion and figured this was as special as any

I'm not going to agree to disagree with you when you're building a straw man's argument that has nothing to do with my comment. I actually addressed what you said and agreed that it was an issue.

Oh, I forgot. I do think they should have included something about Princess Gina. They could have continued with the idea of Hope being silent, and Caroline or Victor could have gone into that for her in addition to adding something about Bo. I definitely would have preferred that to the first nearly half hour of Kate/Roman.

Could Roman be any more obvious? If I was Hope I'd be terrified he's gonna snitch, lol. Hope seemed so nervius and with her remembering the shooting I thought she might share the info with everybody. Looked like Roman thought she might too.

So the storm continued today. The second half of yesterday's show maybe was supposed to be after today's show? I not sure if it was the same day or not but I did think a storm was fitting for remembering Stefano.

I couldnt watch Roman started to do his song and dance about the only way to beat Stefano was to go outside of the law and then looked at Hope...and that was enough for me.

I not sure if it was the same day or not but I did think a storm was fitting for remembering Stefano. And I like what Lysie pointed out. John and Marlena commented the storm has passed but a new one is starting for them.

Great episode today, I thought. The ending with Stefano conducting was brilliant, a definitive send-off.
I wish the flashbacks were better though, and they reached deeper into the vault. Most of that stuff was from the 2000s. I would have liked more 80s material.
But certainly better than Stefano's 'funeral' way back when, when everyone reminisced about Stefano but they couldn't use his image!
