Okay episode... definitely felt like an entire storyline was cut and everything else couldn't be properly edited as a consequence. Hope is more likeable in mom mode, so that's a plus, but the teen stories could have used some judicious trimming, even though they were fairly well done.

Philip and Belle need to find a plot. JPL and MM work well enough together, but nothing is happening in the story.

I liked this episode for the most part. It was teen centric, and for once, that ended up being a good thing. VJ, ORK, and KP all did really well. The Ciara/Claire scenes were great.

Philip is pathetic. It's kind of sad.

I hope Victor suffers.

The cuts are interesting. Back to cutting Rope. It's just interesting. Because I'm pretty sure that relationship isn't being entirely cut. I think they're still just trying to slow it down. I do wish they'd stop cutting Shawn stuff, though.

I'm totally behind Deimos here. Victor admits he let Deimos go to jail for a crime he didn't commit and Maggie's concern is why he didn't tell her. Not that he did it in the first place. I'm sick of Victor being shown as some kind of good person.

The teen interactions were great today. Claire Ciara and Theo were so good

Something has to give with Belle Philip.

I enjoyed this episode.

Ciara/Claire was very touching.

Belle is so wishy washy.

I'm glad Chase feels remorse for what he did, but he needs counseling.

Hope being back on the force? Meh.

I don't blame Deimos for hating Victor. Although I'm not surprised at this at all. Victor has always been an ass.

Vivian Jovanni has been awesome in this story so far. I think this story is going to help the actress find her stride in this role.
I really liked how she did in Friday's episode. Definitely the best work I've seen her do by far. How she's doing now vs. how she started is like night and day.

I think that Olivia Rose Keegan is doing a lovely job as Claire. She really fits the role so well. :) Glad that she got Belle's inner sweetness and Shawn's ability to be supportive and sniff out the truth.

Although I can't stand this incarnation of Philip, I actually was proud of him for telling Belle off for not knowing what she wanted. I will never be a Phelle fan, but I am glad to see that they've allowed Philip's character a few strands of maturity that he didn't have before.

They cut everything involving Hope/Rafe/Roman. Ciara gave Hope her blessing to ask for her job back. Hope asked Roman and he gave it to her. Hope asked Rafe if he was ok with it given that he has feelings for her. Rafe has a fantasy about them. He then tells Hope it is fine.

"With her daughter's blessing, Hope asks Roman to be reinstated as a detective, and she gets her wish. She asks Rafe if he will be okay with that, given the feelings he has for her, and offers to stay away if it will be too hard. After a fantasy of opening his heart to her and having his love reciprocated, Rafe covers and assures Hope it will all be fine."

http://www.nbc.com/days-of-our-lives/episode-guide/season-51/friday-3416/12795

Not only that ...
They cut the ENTIRE spoiler "Hope rejoins the police force".

All that happened was Hope saying she's *considering* rejoining the police force, and asking Ciara how she'd feel about it, and then Ciara gave her blessing.

But actually we don't know if Hope was reinstated or not. I wonder if this is changed.

oh! Thank you. I stand corrected.
I watched the episode but didn't notice that scene.
I just re-read Pat's recap.
"Chase is in the square but hides when he hears Shawn and Rafe. Shawn - Are you serious? Rafe - That's what your Mom said. She's coming back to the force. Shawn - That's great. She's an amazing detective and she loves it too. You're cool with that right? Rafe - Yeah, of course."

No wonder I missed it, I saw Chase in the park but ... I only noticed his scenes talking with Claire and then later texting Claire. I didn't notice Rafe and Shawn.
Most of my focus in this episode was on Ciara and Claire.

I know that the writers don't want to make Hope seem too old, but they need to get over it and learn if you don't want the characters to be older than they are, then don't age their children. This seriously irritates me. Dario referred to Arianna as Kate' granddaughter when she is her GREAT-granddaughter. Please let Claire call Hope grandma again and have Claire and Ciara act like they are actually related.

For people who have just started watching the show and have NO way of knowing the relationships between Claire and everybody else since it seems like she is just a friend of Ciara, here they are.

Quote:

Claire Brady is the daughter of Shawn-Douglas Brady and Belle Black. She is the granddaughter of Bo Brady, Hope Williams, John Black and Marlena Evans. She is the great-granddaughter of Victor Kiriakis, Caroline Brady, Doug Williams and Addie Horton as well as the grandniece and step-great-granddaughter of Julie Olson. She is the niece of Ciara Brady, Brady Black, Paul Narita and Eric Brady. She is the first cousin of Tate Black.

How exactly are they supposed to act though? Is Claire supposed to call Ciara "Aunt Ciara?" That would just be dumb, not to mention unrealistic. Using terms like "great granddaughter" is not common either. Most people would just say granddaughter.

I knew someone in high school whose niece was older and they were stilled called aunt by them. So. I mean it happens.

I feel like Claire and Ciara act related... Unless you mean have Claire call her "aunt" because then I agree. She should call Hope "grandma" too.

They're supposed to act like they have some kind of relationship. When Claire came to the door Hope said hi sweetie to Claire but gave Ciara a hug and kiss. I don't care whether they use the term Grandma or not, they should still show a closer bond between these two. I mean this is Shawn-D's baby! I think back in the day Marlena and Mimi (her daughter's best friend) had a closer relationship than they are showing with Hope and Claire, and Claire is her granddaughter!

Victor's scenes with Deimos were probably the most Victo-like scenes we've had in years.

Maybe they just don't have that type of relationship. One of the realistic things is that in a family, some people are closer than others. And everyone treats everyone different. For example, in Hope's family, she seems to be close with Jennifer but not with Lucas. Same with Jenn's kids. I'd say she has a closer bond with Abigail than JJ.

It may happen, but it's definitely not the norm. I mean, these are two girls hanging out who are the same age pretty much, with the same interests, the same friends, etc. Of course, they are going to have more of a friend relationship than an aunt/niece one.

Well before things got so serious they could have had Ciara and Claire joke around about their relationship like, "I'm your aunt and don't you ever forget it." "Yes Aunt Ciara." or "Hey Auntie!" "Don't you ever call me Auntie again!" And when Claire was asking Ciara if she had told Hope about the rape she asked, "Did you tell your mother?" the way a friend would phrase it with their best friend. I think it would have been more realistic for Claire to have said, "Did you tell Grandma?"

Watched last night. Great episode I thought! Miles ahead of what we had to endure in Jan-Feb. It's amazing how JG can take all the crap stories DH has written and actually make me care about them.

Loved the Claire/Ciara scenes. I'm so glad she confided in her. The ladies handled the tough material very well I thought. I wonder how Claire will react when she comes face to face with Chase?

Hope was likeable again! Color me shocked I hope this means PodPersonHope is gone.

I like Phillip and Belle's dynamic. I love how she's the man in that relationship. Her pimp hand strong.

You can have a friend relationship while still having an aunt/niece one
