Was Victor around Brady when he was a baby? He made it sound like he was.
Not much. He was there more when he was a baby than he was when he was a child, though.
Aw, hey look! It's something KL's Brady actually could have realistically tried to blame Marlena for! I mean, it wouldn't be true, but Brady's never cared about accuracy.

Of course Henry's dad is a minister and his mom directs the church choir so they must be bigots who won't understand. Nice stereotyping.
Did he actually say they don't understand, or that he fears they won't? Two different things.

Everyone since (and including) Langan have done that. I mean, Brash and Cwickly tried, I guess. It's annoying. It doesn't help that both incarnations have been nothing at all like what John Black's son should look, act or feel like.

I actually REALLY liked Deimos and Kate and felt VI and LK had chemistry. However, I'm going to need a bit more story here than these two just having an affair. Hopefully, that materializes soon. I recall the New Year's Eve episode where Kate was watching Nicole and Daniel and Brady and Theresa and seemed jealous of what they have. Then, she dumped Eduardo because he wasn't around and went for Deimos. They need to do some development here. I like that last scene with Eduardo watching them.

The Summer stuff has to be some sort of con and I could be here for that. The rest is just a joke. I said this in another thread but throw Theresa in JJ's orbit, make her a bad girl again, and get rid of Brady for a bit. The character is nothing but an edgier Austin Reed. Dumb as rocks. And having him pretty much ignore most of his family in favor of Victor and Maggie all the time has to be one of the most absurd things I have ever seen on this show and that is saying something.

The Basic Black stuff in the Fall sucked and while I hate that some of the details (Kate treating Gabi and Paul like crap) got caught, I will take what we are getting right now because hopefully with these changing dynamics things will be better since we will getting one singular story vision (JG and BM) for awhile.

The Paul/Henry stuff was nice but need it to lead to something.

The stuff with Abby, Chad, JJ, and Jennifer was good. Jennifer's look when Abby mentioned what Anne had sent was hysterical. The ending with her learning about Ben was really good.

The John/Eduardo stuff was good buildup and a nice way to bring the story back into focus for the big stuff. Marlena/Ari was sweet. Loved the Will mention. I give them major props for not showing the kidnapping. Those two little girls would've been freaked out and I think alot of the audience would've been turned off by that. Days has been accused of being too dark and the story is dark enough. That kind of stuff isn't needed and I actually think it played much better in terms of shock value.

Good episode to start off the week.

I did have to laugh at Summer wearing Nicole's sunglasses. I guess that's probably why we had that spoiler about Dario showing up at her door......he knows she likes to steal stuff. And was that Theresa's scarf she had?

He fears that they won't. I just don't care that they set it up that way. If they actually have Henry say that they end up being understanding (if they take the story that far), I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Jennifer, Chad doesn't really have any family to invite (other than Theo and Abe).

I have to laugh at JJ standing back there and hanging out with the books.

Okay. But it's not exactly a fable that some very religious people are also very anti-gay. One of the issues I had with Will's coming out is that people who should have had issues with it (Caroline, Eric) had none. Caroline is very Catholic and older and it would have been a common thing for her have concerns/reservations/issues with Will being gay. It doesn't mean they have to be hateful/damning. Same with Eric as a priest. He could have been concerned without being hateful.

I don't have great faith in this show doing things with nuance, but a coming out story that was more true to life (i.e. not everyone thinking it was the greatest thing ever) would do more to actually show the truth about the difficulties in coming out and the way a family can evolve during that time would be nice.

Deimos's line to Kate about waiting 30 years has to be the most cringeworthy thing I've heard in a while. And I don't think these two have even a lick of chemistry.
I think Lauren and James Read had the best chemistry than anyone she's been with in a long time. Of course they screwed that story up. Clyde raping his step-daughter and physically abusing both his children made it impossible to want Clyde and Kate to have any type of partnership.

Not surprising since she had one herself. Also many people who don't condemn people (or at least forgive people) for adultery, don't have the same feelings about LGBT issues.

Considering she had one of her own, I understood why.

Marlena was pilloried by many in the community but Alice and Caroline both stood up for her. I see them doing the same for Will. Who I think should have had a problem with is Roman

Again, for a lot of very religious, pro-family people (not all, or most, but many) having an affair is far more forgivable than being gay. Caroline's attitude towards Marlena's affair (particularly in light of her own) really doesn't mean anything in regards to her total acceptance of Will.

And it's not that I want people to be un-accepting. But part of telling a good story is exploring the conflicts inherent to the story. For millions and millions of Americans, coming out to family and friends wasn't nearly as easy as it was for Will. It cost them relationships, it cost them their families, and sometimes their children. And removing almost all of that from Will's story was, IMO, unfortunate. It was a compelling story, but it could have been even more if they had told the whole story.

I agree about Will's coming out. I wish they had shown the issues you just described. I don't know if Henry is enough of a main character at this point for them to be exploring him coming out to his parents and their reactions, but I think watching a story like that would be interesting. I jumped the gun with my initial post a bit.

Liked the Abby/Chad/JJ scenes. I wanted to hit Chad over the head on that one. I'm glad JJ blurted it out, so at least she knows. I thought Abby's reaction was interesting, just wanting to leave town like that. I really hope what sends Abby offscreen is that she loses it because of Ben. The aftermath has not been dealt with, and now that he's out, I'd like to see her spiral. Of course, all of this must be after the wedding and honeymoon. I need to see Chabby have some good moments before all hell breaks loose.

I was so disappointed (but not surprised) that Summer is Maggie's child. :ermm: I really don't want her to have another child. And there is no reason for Brady to just "get the results". It doesn't work that way. Whatever.

Adorable Marlena/Ari/Gabi scene. I'm looking forward to the rescue scenes this week, and everyone finding out about it (Eduardo, Rafe and Gabi).

Well, if I know this show at all, the fact that Henry and his parents aren't main characters means it is far more likely for them to tell this story. I fully believe the very reason they didn't explore those issues with Will is that they were afraid to have any main character come across as a bigot. Now, I actually think it would have been possible to show someone - Caroline or Roman or even Lucas - have serious issues that caused actual longer-term conflicts and then have those characters evolve as so many others have. But the show apparently didn't agree.

But now we have some new teen and his unknown parents. They are the perfect characters to explore that lack of acceptance and bigotry because it won't be ruining/damaging some long-term well known character to have them react badly.

I think they should left the kidnapping out of the spoilers. It could have been clear that there was something going on without us knowing exactly what. And Arianna being taken probably wouldn't have been guessed based on the other spoilers.
