I would have liked Claire/Chase. But now not so much for obvious reasons.

Hope was a weak point for me today. I didn't like how KA played it at all. She seemed worried, but not really affected. Maybe that will come later? I'm just tired of Hope. I feel like she's gotten to play every emotion the last few months and at this point they've all blended together. I really need a break

Hope was a weak point for me today. I didn't like how KA played it at all. She seemed worried, but not really affected. Maybe that will come later? I thought KA's choices in the warehouse scenes were spot on. The mix of tenderness and heartbreak ... I could almost see Ciara's life flashing before [Hope's] eyes. The overlay of strength for Ciara's sake, too.
The Horton house scenes were good but it just highlighted for me that the rape exam scenes at the hospital would have been such a moment. I felt like that was the aftermath of what was a pivotal missed scene.

Very good show just saw it this morning and I enjoyed all of it because there was no Brady, Summer, Theresa, Maggie stuff which has been a total drag every since it started. The scenes with Hope/Ciara were fantastic. Ciara's confrontation with Chase well done and loved at the end the tenderness of Ciara holding Theo's hand. The Phillip stuff didn't bother me as usual because i am loving having Deimos as the new villain. Glad this kidnapping story and aftermath are moving along and not just standing still. Looking forward to the show today.

I wonder if Joey knows that his mom was also raped. Did they shelter him as a child and never told him?
Finally some action, I can't stand it when the characters just stand around and talk. It is John and Marlena's story, stop making it so much about the Hernandez clan.
Thank you. If I hadn't been told this was a story about John's past, I would totally be thinking this was a Hernandez family story. John barely had a line. All that standing around in that room with stupid Rafe trying to figure out what was going on was torture. It was all just to get Rafe's reaction to the situation and to make sure we know how pissed Rafe is at Eduardo. I don't care about that, get on with the story, or let me hear from John. I get that the Hernandez & Black family are connected through Ari and because of Winterthorne but the ONLY Hernandez I care to see in that story are Gabi and Ari. I don`t need to see Rafe and how pissed he is at Eduardo AGAIN. I am SO over it and wish Rafe was too.

I'd rather see them make Claire's Phillip's daughter -- much neater ;) -- but it's even weaker than first cousins once removed, because Bo and Kayla are half-siblings.
Why Philip is a piece of shit and Belle is a horrible mother. Why would you want Phiiip as Claire's father just for some stupid pairing that won't even last?? It's the same thing they did with Brady and Theresa. and It's bad writing at its worst in my opinion. We can get new male characters for Claire. Heck JT Reiber comes to mind. Why not make Belle Roman's while we're at it!!! changing paternities just makes women look bad IMO. And they already doing enough of that. Besides Shawn is perfect as her father and she has awesome chemistry with both Jason Cook and Brandon Beemer. Than she's ever shown with Martha or any other family member so far. Claire is Shawn's daughter and a Brady!!! end of story.
granolagirl and I were just joking around about how it'd be possible for Joey and Claire to date. Making Claire Philip's was considered the "neater" option because it would cut all blood ties. (Technically, they could still date as first cousins once removed, but that's a little weird). From my end, it had nothing to with liking Philip. LOL. I like Shawn D as her dad. I just don't like Jade so far and think Claire/Joey would be more interesting. I mean, now that Chase is a definite no go, Claire doesn't have a potential suitor either. I was joking... but just for me, I'm not attached to Shelle and would have no problem with Claire's paternity changing. Everyone thought it was a possibility at the time, so it would be a pretty minor rewrite as they go. And it might make Shawn and Claire's relationship even more interesting... what a callback to Shawn/Bo/Victor.

All in all I thought today was another good episode. I'm not a fan of JPL's Philip but I do think he fits the role of Victor and Kate's spoiled son. And Deimos ... although I don't like anything he does I can't help but be engaged by his character. I think a lot of that has to do with VI's performance. I already feel like Deimos belongs as the new resident villain of the piece ... I don't think that would have happened if the role was played by someone other than VI.
Again I thought the teens were the highlight of the show. I'm with a lot of other people - why aren't they playing out the familial aspects of these characters more. I agree if I hadn't been watching when Claire was born I'd never know that Hope was her grandmother. Joey and Claire are cousins ... have they even mentioned that? The only family connection we've heard lately is Deimos referring to Phil as his nephew and Phil calling Deimos Uncle.
The Ciara, Chase confrontation was okay. I do think that Chase is unstable ... I wonder if these scenes were done to illustrate that. The dialogue was very good. I'm glad that Ciara did not resort to violence and that she called her mother and told her that Chase raped her. Although we didn't see Hope taking Ciara to the hospital at least they mentioned it and the fact she was tested for HIV and pregnancy. Also happy that Ciara has agreed to go to counselling. Sweet moment with Theo and Ciara when she took his hand.
The kidnapping stuff was okay. Rafe is clearly confused by John's connection to Eduardo's past but at least he gave them the hour to try and rescue Marlena and Ari. John and Eduardo really scoped that place out ... I can't help but believe they have some plan in mind even though they're drinking that doctored drink from the thermos. Tomorrow should be exciting! Although I`m also glad Ciara didn`t resort to violence, I was glad she scared the crap out of him while he was tied up. I liked how she compared it to what she felt when he raped her. I wish I could have done that to the guy who date-raped me.
Ciara mirrored so much of how I felt after it happened to me but I think a part of the reason I ever got past it is that I wasn`t a virgin. I can`t EVEN imagine that.
We have a long way to go in this country with how rape is viewed because I can tell by my Dad`s comments and expressions that even though he would never say it, he thinks it`s my own fault. Just glad my Mom understood and was always willing to talk to me about it.

Here's my speculation the drink John/Eddie drank was THE formula. Used to unlock the memories of John and maybe Eddie's past, but something goes wrong. Maybe things go wrong, maybe even Rafe comes in, Eddie is shot and John is kidnapped from the kidnappers. Going from Petrov to John's father.. Just my guess. Whyyyyyyyyyyyy can`t Rafe get shot?

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep

And it might make Shawn and Claire's relationship even more interesting... what a callback to Shawn/Bo/Victor. I actually agree about this. It won't change the fact that Shawn raised her and will add interesting conflicts for her as her mom moves on with bio dad Philip but she still sees herself as Shawn's little girl.
And it isn't like Philip wasn't a possibility.
