It should be illegal to look that good.
Everytime I look at this picture, all I think is WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

Getting rid of Marlena's son to make room for the Hernandez clan of criminals is so fucked up.
This needs to be tweeted because it's damn near perfect. :hail: :hail:

He's getting me excited about watching Queen Sugar. Of course all hope that he'll be back as Eric is slowly being eradicated, but with the writing that Eric has gotten maybe its for the best. I just don't want Eric stuck in prison while all the "good" characters that do "bad" things, INTENTIONALLY "bad" things are running free.

JLa is not the best actor, but he does look like his character's parents. He's not the worst actor and I think he can improve.

He has room to grow IMO and isn't worthy of axing at this point. I can't say the same about the Ciara recast. She needs to go!

That's the part that doesn't make sense. Eric killed Daniel and he should pay a price for it.

But Hope killed Stefano. Shouldn't she pay a price for it? Thing is, I get why it happened, and Stefano deserved it. So, say we let her off. He'd certainly caused a LOT of suffering, right? For Bo and Hope, for John and Marlena, for Steve and Kayla, for Roman. For everyone's kids, who spent lots of time growing up without one of their parents present..and that can be laid at least in part, at Stefano's door. So yeah. I understood, even if I didn't like it.

But...THEN instead of coming forward, she framed someone else for her crime. Sure, it's Andre, but that's still wrong.

And Joey. He should pay a price. I understand what pushed him. I get it. But...

So, Eric pays, but Joey doesn't? And Hope, who framed somebody...she doesn't?

I want both.
I adore Eric Brady.
I love the Hernandez clan.

I realize there are budget issues but ...

I can still state what I enjoy.

Adding onto my above post with more detail:

I adore Eric Brady, and the Black-Brady-Evans family.

I love the Hernandez clan.

I understand that some may dislike how the writers have tended to overprop Rafe at times, and I understand how some dislike the Rafe/Hope thing. I understand the dislike for Rafe covering up Stefano's murder. I do understand all that.

Other than those issues, I like Rafe when he's a supporting character and not a main character.

I don't think the whole Hernandez family should be blamed for the writers' misuse of the Rafe character.

I don't really think the Hernandez family are any more a "clan of criminals" than anyone else in Salem.

I get why Gabi killed Nick. I don't have a problem with it.

Eduardo and John have the same background.

I have been reading the recaps and I see that Dario is a con artist. I'm about a week behind on watching episodes, so I haven't seen his scenes.
I would understand dislike of his connection with the Bummer storyline.
But I'm going to wait until I see his scenes before I decide what I think about him.

I'm most intrigued by the upcoming appearance of Alma Delfina as (Mama) Adriana. I'm really looking forward to her scenes with Camila.

I am looking forward to a large family with messy issues. I miss that.

HOWEVER, I wanted to ALSO have a continued large BRADY family with messy issues because I think that's really integral to to the show. I miss the working class Bradys running their fish market, and the early years of their pub.

I'd really like to see an assortment of large families of different ethnicities and economic backgrounds.
Black-Brady-Evans, Hernandez, Carver, Horton, Kiriakis, Johnson.

I would have *LOVED* to see Eric Brady with Nicole -- and whatever children they adopt.

Furthermore -- Ariana Grace Horton is part of all these families:
Horton, Brady, Evans-Black, Hernandez, Kiriakis, and Johnson. And Roberts-Reed.
I like that a lot.

And yes I know there are budget issues. But I like seeing a diverse assortment of families.

I had no problem with Rafe when he was doing the cop thing during the Serial Killer storyline with Ben. He actually used his brain and had good instincts. He knew that despite the evidence piling up against Chad, that it didn't feel right.

I was enjoying Rafe. But then came the whole Stefano thing, and instead of doing what I wanted him to do, which was counsel Hope to turn herself in...because she was a mess and could have used good advice, he helps cover up the crime and then helps frame Andre for it.

And wonder of wonders, the show was USING the cover up and framing as some kind of initial courtship period for Hope and Rafe, and it wasn't appealing.

I've loved some on the run stories in my time, but the person on the run was innocent, and the significant other was helping prove it.

In this case, Hope's guilty. Rafe should have helped her through his job. Call up a damn fine lawyer he knows and get him to represent her...Provide moral support when she goes to the authorities to confess. Be an ear for Ciara.

That's not what he did at all. I don't like the choices he made. I don't like Hope's choices either, but she'd been a mess since Bo's death. She was grieving. You could see her unraveling. She needed sound judgment from Rafe, and she didn't get it.

I am really looking forward to seeing what happens with most of the Hernandez family. They should have kept GV/dropped Summer and Dario, cut back on Maggie, cut the photographs of Daniel, and limit mentions of Daniel by any character to once every six months as that have done for Bo and Will.

I'm not reeally anti the Hernandezes, but I was a little surprised to see in the magazine that Alma Delfina is on contract too.

The expansion of the Hernandez clan will only irritate me if they get better 'family' writing, than the already established ones.

I liked the way Rafe was written for a few weeks back in the fall. He acted like a real cop, who felt lucky to be back on the force, doing what he loves. GG's acting style was different. Unfortunately, I think I could tell you the exact minute that Dena was back in control, because from one episode to the next Rafe became smug, and GG's acting became flat and lifeless again, and Rafe is doing the exact same things that I hated about him from the beginning.

Me too. And nothing against her, but I'm hoping it's short term. I don't mind the story but the show isn't really in need of anyone else that age to stick around.

I don't blame the Hernandez family for Eric's departure. I don't think it was either this or that. I don't like the idea of bringing in the mother in any other status than recurring, but so far I see potential with Eduardo/Rafe/Dario/Gabi in terms of family dynamics. I like the different tiers of acceptance and lack of acceptance of the father.

As long as it's not overbearing? Meh. I do agree with a poster above me who noted they would be pissed if that family unit was written well while the long-standing clans continue to be lucky to get a visit a month outside bubbles.

I think someone from the show (Corday?) said about the Hernandez clan that they felt that they were missing a big family.

The Hernandez clan is the least of DAYS woes. The majority of the show's issues arise from the members of the "core" families, sloppy writing, senseless firings, etc. I'm curious to see what the Hernandez clan offers because nothing on the show is working for this longtime viewer of 30 years.
Other than that, the show needs some diversity. Of course, everyone wants good story, but who doesn't. But it's not the 50's/60's anymore, and a balance with a fair representation of actors/actresses from different ethnic backgrounds is a must, especially when the viewing audience is so diverse. Primetime TV has finally opened their eyes to the fact that the viewing audience is diverse and they have risen to the occasion and offer a great mixture of entertainment headed by characters of various backgrounds. Daytime can stand to do the same.
While they're expanding the Hernandez clan, they need to give James Reynolds a good storyline and focus. It's a shame how little airtime Abe receives, and heaven knows, they really don't/haven't/probably won't give Sal Stowers any substantial material to work with. I certainly wouldn't call the scant lines that she's been given "meaty or quality" lines/scenes. It's just filler stuff. So who knows what Sal Stowers is really made of? With DAYS track record with diverse characters, we'll probably never know. Stower's situation reminds me of Robert Scott Wilson's No one really knew Robert Scott Wilson's range and acting chops until he really had something to play. Throughout the majority of his tenure, he was given the thankless role as the third leg in a triangle. If nothing else, the serial killer storyline gave RSW the opportunity to show that he had the serious acting stuff. Of course, the DAYS got rid of this great talent in their tireless shuffle of "rebooting" along with other talented performers like Greg Vaughan. What a double shame. If I could personally shake Oprah's hand for hiring GV, I'd do it. At least someone appreciates the talent that he offers. Hopefully, RSW will land something big soon as well.
The actor that plays Theo is good and IMO, he is the best cast teen along with the one playing Claire. He's so natural and more than that likable. And I like the chemistry between Theo/Ciara. It could play in the show's favor if they expanded on it. Hopefully, his talent won't be wasted like James Reynold's.

I think someone from the show (Corday?) said about the Hernandez clan that they felt that they were missing a big family. You should maybe make 1 Hernandez interesting before u out bring the whole damn clan to town.
Wow! Hello you already had 2 big families. I understand you need the occasional stranger or your kids will be inbred. How Bout making one Hernandez interesting before you bring the whole damn clan on.

This.

I hope we're not gaining a new family that's gonna get every effort from the writers while they continue to neglect family interaction elsewhere. Ciara has had almost no interaction with her grandmother since Bo died. Same with Joey. Kayla hasn't seen Caroline that we know of. Steve's seen Adrienne once. Ciara hasn't had scenes with Shawn. Brady and John seldom chat. Brady and Marlena don't interact. Eric is isolated from all of them, which would be fine IF it were part of his story and he was avoiding loved ones because he's ashamed, but they haven't given voice to that.

I don't love the idea of more of the Hernandez family, because I think we're fine with the ones we have. I'll accept them if the story's decent, but if they're gonna get all the attention when we see huge problems with other families, how am I gonna like that?

I'm not.
