Since it was on my DVR I watched Friday's episode. It took all of 3 minutes I think. There was literally nothing on there that was appealing. I thought I'd check out the John's father part, mostly because CS is a good actor and I wanted to check him out. Poor CS. He can't really think that is a good story. He had to be thinking this is so trite compared to H5O, but it's a paycheck. It kind of reminded me of one of those old Godzilla movies. It was really bad! I've seen this hype about Tobin Bell so I thought it would be something really good. I am supposed to be impressed, right? Because I am SO not. The writing had really taken a nose dive since January. I like the January stuff SO much better. There were definite misses, but at least there were familial connections that I could see. Now there is nothing.

Okay, scratch the NOTHING appealing. Marlena was interesting because she's Marlena. And that is about it.

I hope that Quan when he starts writing has more influence than its been speculated he will.

I just can't imagine any Asian viewers being okay with this John's father story. Although CS was a part of it so maybe I'm wrong. Not to mention it was poorly written, it looked like someone's basement, and well I was just almost embarrassed to even watch it.

ETA: I just read through the comments and apparently some are enjoying the John's father story. Posters I respect so maybe I'm just missing something. Or maybe it's just different strokes for different folks.
I mean....it could definitely just be different strokes, but you said you FF'ed through most of it and it doesn't sound like you've watched the other days. That kind of makes a difference. And it's fine either way, but that would be what you're missing.
True, I only have Fridays scenes to go by.

do anyone know what the song of the song that claire sang
I think it's a song ORK wrote herself or one that one of the Days music peeps wrote for her to sing on the show.

I didn't think Claire's song triggered that at all....
Ciara is acting out because of the rape, for sure. There would have been no running out and bar hopping without RAPE. That said, IMO, Ciara would not have run out of the party a complete wreck and then come back in ready to jump on a bar if Claire didn't begin singing the most depressing song ever. After hearing that song, I asked myself "Claire does know her aunt just lost her father and that aunt Ciara was also raped recently, right? I didn't imagine that?"
I don't necessarily disagree with the sentiment, but I don't think it played out that way.

I just read the recap and there were definitely cuts yesterday.

It talks about Ciara being overwhelmed by Theo's gift, kissing him on the cheek and flashing back to the rape.
The only part of this that was cut was the flashback. And given that it was Claire's song that really triggered Ciara's drunken "Declaration of Independence", a rape flashback wouldn't have really added much.
I didn't think Claire's song triggered that at all....
Claire's song was the tipping point of the evening. That & Theo going after her once she ran out.

Maybe she'll mention the song on Monday, but I don't think the song had anything to do with anything other than it kept her from being distracted.

In one of her interviews ORK mentioned that the songs she is singing on Days were written by Brent Nelson's (Days composer) daughter.

Hello everyone!
I didn't read the whole thread so I'm not sure if this has been asked but does anyone know where I can find or listen to Claire's song?
I really like it.

Thanks

I feel like we're agreeing but getting lost in semantics.

When life does something to break us or to change us (rape, death, assault, etc), we usually put band-aids on the wound to get through each day. Then a song comes on the radio, a moment plays on television, you see a familiar place or thing, or somebody says something and the band-aid is ripped off. Yes, the wound is there regardless but there are triggers that rip off the band-aid(s). To me it 100% played like Ciara had her band-aids on and Claire's ridiculously sad song ripped them off which prompted Ciara to go into extra high gear to forget again.

I think it would have been more realistic for something to come on the playlist than for Claire to sing that song knowing what she knows.

I see what you're saying, but the lyrics to the song don't support that for me.

Didn't Ciara start crying during the song too?

Unless I just assumed that's what was happening when I clicked on the video to skip some stuff.

Yes. I just didn't think it had anything to do with the song.

What did y'all think the song was about?

Quick question (if someone wouldn't mind to answer):

Was it already established at some point that Bo had vintage Mustang, or did they just come up with that back-story for this episode?

Just curious. :)

Wasn't the song was about Ciara having gone through heartbreak & loss and feeling like she's lost her way, but feeling that there's hope because she's got an angel (which I'm assuming is supposed to be Bo).

Apparently. Having Claire sing it the day before without Ciara there totally killed that message for me.

Thought CS was really good. I know some people don't like him as John's son but he and Drake play well off each other. The, "I'm sorry dad," got me right in the feels. I'm can't wait to see how he reacts to being kidnapped and supposedly potentially brainwashed because of his dad.

Marlena seems like she's two seconds away from storming the clinic herself. Rafe is condescendingly trying to protect her but in the end I get the feeling she's going to have none of that and I really, really cannot wait till she finds John and they reunite.

This brainwashing thing could add a completely different layer to Paul and I'm looking forward to how this plays out over time.

Good to see Kayla talking to other people. Now can both Hope and Kayla remember that John and Marlena are also their good friends and actually talk to them as well?

This is the message I got from the song and the angel part definitely had me sad that Bo isn't there for this story.

Olivia Rose Keegan said she'll release her Days songs as an album. Probably within the next two weeks.
The song is called "Angel".
